I’m seeing, yet again, this surge of hatred for the Boomer generation. I’m a late season Boomer, born in 1961; I’ve worked for nearly 50 years, have been in the same profession for 37 years, I’ve routinely worked 45-60 hours a week. I don’t get why we are so vilified.

Slavery was legal. People who freed slaves were criminals. Segregation was legal. People who stood up for equality were criminals. I heard this story once about a teacher who took a fish out of its bowl and left a classroom of children as it flopped around.. telling them that if anyone left their seat, they would be expelled. All of the children sat and watched as this fish flopped gasping for air, not wanting to get up in order to avoid getting in trouble. Finally, a girl sprang up from her seat and ran to the fish, placing it back in the bowl. Ultimately, she was the only one who refused to watch the fish die. When the teacher returned he told the class that this was a lesson. That the fear of getting in trouble should never stop you from doing what's right. That sometimes.. you may have to oppose authority and group think, simply because it's the right thing to do. Never use legality as a guide to morality.

I was at a men’s conference a couple years ago. The main speaker basically said that we must keep our daughters away from the broken men of the world. I understand in some sense Barbie meant, I have 4 daughters and don’t want them married to broken men. But in reality, with all the divorce and degeneracy in our culture I thought to myself, “who here isn’t deaf, dumb and blind in some sense?”

@real_tyranny @melodymlyons Yes, I'm old enough to remember attitudes have swung back and forth. There is still a feminist faction in the church, which includes nuns, but so what? We shall see how our new pope leads us

@melodymlyons @BrucesDee Have there been any efforts from Catholic public and private figures to push feminist principles in the Church and in society in general? I think there have been, and those efforts have achieved results, and now there's the push back.

Can we just say it? This is so weird. Just be normal, man. No great man speaks like this. No great man has to beat a drum of self-importance in order to be respected by the people in his life. It doesn’t even mean anything in a Catholic sense. Christ will always prevail. Christ alone.

If your worldview requires belittling women, it’s not biblical! Mary carried Christ. Esther saved a nation. Deborah led Israel. Ruth shaped a lineage. Mary Magdalene proclaimed the resurrection. A low view of women isn’t Christian. Scripture proves that.
