I like this idea, not least because years ago I wrote up a proposal for BCC to put a Clean Kilo on every high street in the city using empty property it owned. Would we still need weekly bin collections if everyone had a local plastic free grocers? theguardian.com/environment/20…

We need to rethink how local WM food reaches people. High Rise Harvest wanted to start a Brum community distribution center to wholesale food to restaurants, resi and community groups like @IncredibleSurp . Without better distribution, local food isn’t truly accessible

Distribution of local food is a barrier. When we ran the Slow Birmingham Food Hub, many farmers described Birmingham as a “black hole” for local food. Traffic, time constraints and low sales made it economically unviable to bring fresh produce into the city

@VanessaJ2Inspmy Fair. If you're interested in experiencing nature within the city, you should definitely check out the farmers market on the second Saturdays of each month. Then, take a leisurely stroll down to the nature reserve. It's conveniently located on the cross city line. : )

Food waste is not rubbish but valuable in the circular economy - as we have learnt from the @food_trails #Birmingham composting pilot. “We cannot neglect the socio-economic impact of these projects either” added Kate Smith @BrumSlowFood. Thanks to @EatMakePlayB16 for this pilot!
