gm I'd like to share something about an issue I feel very passionately about. Please give it a read, share if you resonate & engage with me if you share this passion. Utilizing AI to overcome the language barrier. The immense challenges non-fluent, non-native English speakers face when interacting in a world where English is the language currency is no secret. Communicating ideas and thoughts in a language that one is not proficient in can be intimidating and puts these individuals at a disadvantage, both professionally and socially. It is not a level playing field for those competing in a global marketplace but forget about competing, even forming human connections is a challenge because it also requires oral or written exchange in English in an increasingly virtual world. But, AI has the potential to greatly reduce the intensity of this language barrier. To demonstrate how, I did an experiment assuming the identity of a Hindi speaking photographer living in picturesque Sunnyland. My goal was to have a bio written in English that could serve as an "About Me" on a website or twitter bio etc. using minimal English. 1. I typed up what I wanted to say in Hindi and got @Google to generate a rough translation. Even what I wrote in Hindi is very basic. 2. I asked chat-GPT (chat.openai.com) to "Paraphrase" the rough translation. That's it. A simple 2 step process involving one English word ("paraphrase") that can be used to write tweets, messages, cover letters, descriptions, personal statements or literally anything in minutes starting from any language that google can translate. It can also be used to refresh a text you may have had for a long time. The applications are endless. For all the recent advancements in AI, I am most excited about Machine Translation, which allows individuals who speak different languages to communicate with one another by translating speech or text in real-time, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies, which enable computers to understand and respond to human language. Just the thought of the possibilities of what humans can unlock when language is not a barrier excites me like no other. Truly game-changing! I don't usually ask for RTs but I will ask that today in the hopes that these 2 simple steps can reach those who can really benefit from this. 🙏🏽
