Last night, @BCSDBrunswickHS celebrated the remarkable achievements of the graduating class of 2026! $90,000 in scholarships was awarded to 71 deserving students. Additionally, this class earned over $500,000 through the Governor’s Merit Scholarship program, which aims to keep Ohio’s top students in-state for college. Thank you to all the organizations and businesses that have provided scholarships for our students! We are grateful to serve such a generous community that continues to support our students and school district! Today, history wasn't something our @BCSDHRidge 3rd graders read about — it was something they lived during a field trip to the Brunswick Historical Society Museum at Heritage Farm. Thanks to a grant from the Medina Breakfast Kiwanis Club, every 3rd grader in BCSD will experience this same adventure, trading textbook pages for real artifacts, real stories, and real connections to the past. Experiences like these spark curiosity, build understanding, and turn ordinary lessons into lifelong memories. Our students are doing INSPIRING THINGS! This weekend, twelve 6th graders wrapped up their season in the Girls on the Run middle school program, Heart & Soul. Over the past eight weeks, these students participated in fun lessons that helped them build character skills like managing stress, setting goals, and knowing when to give and ask for help. Alongside these valuable lessons, they also got moving as they trained for their big event! This past Saturday, they crossed the finish line at a 5K race held at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, celebrating all their hard work and dedication. Brunswick’s Preschool is hosting a peer screening on May 27th. We are looking for peer role models between 3 and 5 years old who have age-expected skills and language for the 2026-2027 school year. Children must be 3 years old by August 1, 2026, and must be a Brunswick resident. Typical peers must be fully toilet trained prior to starting preschool. @BCSDHRidge 4th Graders Turn Pages into Purpose! What happens when a reading lesson meets a big heart? A school-wide tradition that feeds our community! Hickory Ridge 4th graders spotted a theme running through their stories and poems—helping others in need—and decided to live it out. The result? The April Food Drive is now in its fifth year! Students owned every step of the process. They wrote scripts, recorded morning announcement commercials, designed posters, and tracked donations as they rolled in. Their efforts stocked the Family Resource Room at Brunswick High School AND supported a Hickory Ridge family in need. Huge shoutout to 4th grade teachers Mrs. Brady, Mrs. Baugh, and Mrs. Kurka for transforming a literature lesson into a real-world act of kindness. @BCSD students in Mrs. Klein’s physics classes took learning to the next level on Friday with an exciting “sink or swim” challenge at the Brunswick Rec Center. Students tested their cardboard boat designs to see if they could successfully paddle across the pool. Things got even more interesting as students earned extra credit for each additional paddler who joined the ride! This hands-on experience was not just about applying classroom lessons. It turned learning into an adventure. By bringing physics to life in such a fun way, students created lasting memories and made connections that textbooks alone can't provide. Today, the seniors at @BHSBrunswickHS attended their final school assembly. Before the announcements of the senior superlatives and prom court, BHS alum Terri Bartchak spoke to the students about the power of choices. Her son, Blake Bartchak, along with his classmates Jeff Chaya, Lexi Poerner, and Kevin Fox, was killed in a car accident on June 3, 2012, the night before graduation. Terri emphasized how a single choice can have lasting consequences and shared her personal struggle with grief. She highlighted the importance of asking for help during difficult times. Most importantly, she conveyed Blake's message of believing in yourself. Thank you, Terri, for sharing your story! This evening celebrates the top 30 students in the graduating class of 2026 and gives them an opportunity to thank and acknowledge an elementary, middle, and high school staff member who positively impacted their Journey of a Blue Devil.
