@pokeefe1 @shelleyj89 If we’re going to go on and have a successful period under Conte, how many of todays back 3/5 are realistically going to be a part of it? The margins are too fine at this level, it’s surely the area that he’ll upgrade next.

@shelleyj89 Speaking like a man who’s sticking around but our full backs are pure torture. Fundamental to how he wants to play so his insistence on Emerson is bizarre and Sess looks scared whenever he gets the ball.

@Craig_Spur Neither of them are that good, are they? The minute Spence plays and gets done defensively people will be all over him instantly. It’s just not a great situation down that side.

@GaffneyVLC Little point picking out Gil, he was only on because the front three came up short. Richy was poor, not as if Sessegnon made any difference either and he’s had plenty of minutes. Kulu is the big miss in all of this. Would have suited Saturday and tonight.

Spurs should have won that. Much better overall but our final pass/touch was lacking. Losing Kulu is tough as we really need to freshen things up in the final third and Bryan, unfortunately, just isn't quite ready. He did okay but looked a bit too desperate to impress.

@ghostgoal He’s saved us way more than he’s cost us, he’s not the problem and never has been. This is a ridiculous point to make.

Hugo Lloris, 344 Premier League games and 21 errors leading to goals. vs Big Six: 11 errors in 91 games vs The Rest: 10 errors in 253 games More defending against the better teams but do wonder whether pressure has something to do with it.

@georgeachillea Kulu isn’t a RWB. There’s a problem there but shoehorning him in isn’t the answer

Going forward: Lloris Romero Dier Lenglet* Kulu Hojbjerg Bissouma Bentancur Perisic Kane Son Even though they perform well individually our midfield constantly gets overrun every game. Also Kulu is undroppable so need to fit him in…

@samw1t This is it, this is Tottenham right here. If you score a couple of these you’re out of sight at HT. If you don’t, you live with the consequences of surrendering possession. This isn’t to do with today, it’s every week. Once you play someone decent you run the risk we’ve just seen

Small compilation of our poor final ball in the first half today - imo on another day we create 2-3 1v1s here. I was slyly confident at HT that we'd get a result, didn't think Arsenal controlled the game nearly as well as they could've/needed to, re-watch confirmed my feelings.

@charlieparrish I’ll never understand our record there or at Chelsea. How many have come and gone in the last few decades and still the same outcome?

@BruntSpurs The 1 in 30 is perhaps the most telling bit to me. We’ve set up in all sorts of ways there but it’s often mistakes that do for us.

It’s all very high risk, high reward (and maybe this result proves we don’t have enough players cool & calm enough to execute it in this type of game) but I do reckon this system could’ve totally got Spurs a result had Lloris & Royal not messed up.

@Craig_Spur @pokeefe1 @hbrooks_coach We’d have a squad of 200 if it was down to fans managing outgoings. Rarely do we move on fringe/squad players and they go onto great things. He might but he hasn’t yet and it isn’t our concern.

@charlieparrish It’s a system based on success in the weakest area of our squad. Problem is we’re not the only ones who know this! Even more unusual that it has yielded such a good run so what do we know?!

@charlieparrish If controlling the game is not having the ball then you have to be damn ruthless when you do. That was an accident waiting to happen, Fulham aside that is how we’ve been rolling.

Generally Spurs should just stop turning up for away games in Europe with this bizarre cockiness that the (often very handy) opposition will roll over. It’s been there for quite a few squads and coaches now!

@charlieparrish Was just saying the same. He clearly doesn’t think possession = control but it’s a hard watch when the breaks don’t work. It’s different to the JM low possession, we’re not under constant bombardment -The defence is far more organised, Saturday will be a good test of the theory!

Main useful lesson for me from that deeply weird game: I’m just gonna have to make peace with us not having loads of the ⚽️ in our often outnumbered CM. And that’s fine when the counters are crisp & we’re flying down the other end. It’s harder to enjoy when it’s like the 1st half

@GaffneyVLC This has happened for years. A few under performing players turn in a handful of acceptable performances and people get all sentimental and protective. Luckily signings aren’t based on fan opinions.

It baffles me when certain Spurs fans turn their nose up at signing Perisic because he's "too old". He's a winner, a serial winner. That type of experience is invaluable (as shown tonight). Do people not remember the impact an 'old' Edgar Davids made (& to an extent Gudjohnsen)?

@pokeefe1 Not much in it for half hour but didn’t matter how we won, just needed the win. We’re at our best when the ball is where our best players are. In the last third.

Spurs bullied Arsenal tonight who had a bright 15 mins then just lost their heads. Spurs dominated them from then on. Their only threat was Martinelli I thought. For Spurs, Harry/Son exceptional again. Dier & Sessegnon very good and Hojbjerg one of his best games. Building blocks

@charlieparrish Spent most of this season thinking we have no chance. Then we somehow find ourselves in with a chance. I can live with dropping points, I can’t live with performances like the last two. That’s what does me more than anything. It’ll all be over in a month at least, if not before!!

I trust that this system would work magnificently with good, in-form wing-backs, but seeing as we right now only have full-backs who offer no threat going forward and a very rusty Sess, *surely* Conte has to consider changing it.
