Very proud of @BryamOP ! Having a @NatureClimate and a @AMSJCLi out of a PhD is a fantastic achievement! Well done! @ccrc_unsw @ClimateExtremes

Our new @AMSJCLi paper is out! Here we study the ENSO response to a new tropical Pacific mean state caused by a collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). With A. Santoso @ProfMattEngland @AndreaTaschetto. ➡️ doi.org/10.1175/JCLI-D… ⬇️🧵

@ktakahashig @AMSJCLi @ProfMattEngland @AndreaTaschetto Gracias!

In response, ENSO variability reduces, as shown by the decrease in tropical Pacific sea surface temperature variability (blue shading). We also found reduced ENSO extreme events and changes in ENSO diversity. More details on the paper. Happy to share a copy w/anyone interested.

The new tropical Pacific mean state under a collapsed AMOC scenario features cooler temperatures and an intensified Pacific Walker Circulation as explained in our previous @NatureClimate study (rdcu.be/cO4rz).

An analysis in @NatureClimate shows that the collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation causes excess heat to accumulate in the tropical south Atlantic Ocean, resulting in atmospheric changes globally. go.nature.com/3xrhdth

My first ever article has been published in @NatureClimate 🎉 !!! Read it here: rdcu.be/cO4rz and see quoted tweet for a nice summary of the findings. Big thanks to @ProfMattEngland and @AndreaTaschetto without whom this publication would not have been possible.
