The government of Singapore claims to be impartial, neutral, balanced and all that shit but here they are refusing entry to a person who has lived and worked in Singapore for five years with a PhD from NUS and commendably organised and spoke up for the plight of Gazans
Fadiah Nadwa 法迪婭·娜德娃@FadiahNadwa

I’ve been banned from entering Singapore & was just deported to Malaysia. I asked immigration to provide the grounds for the ban/deportation, but they said they could not disclose them. It’s stunning bcs I stayed there for 5 years & was conferred a doctoral degree on 31 January.

@Irenezhao_ Bullshit ! Singapore is the worst place to live : overwhelming consumerism, strict laws (fines for chewing gum, not flushing toilets, smoking bans outside designated areas), very high prices, and underlying racism. Drug possession can lead to the death penalty 🤮

Singapore is the best country in the world I like it all: 🇸🇬 Culture: Joining a 45-minute queue because "if there is a line, it must be good." 🇸🇬 People: Professional complainers who will still defend the country to the death if a tourist joins in. 🇸🇬 Hawker food: Sweating under a plastic fan to eat a $5 Michelin-starred chicken rice 🇸🇬 Safety: Using a $2,000 iPhone to reserve seat at a food court. 🇸🇬 Efficiency: Touching down at Changi and being home before the flight crew has even left the plane. Name a better country, I’ll wait

@HRInews For every drug trafficker we hang, we save 100 lives.  That's the most humane trade-off and that's why most Singaporeans support the death penalty for drug trafficking.

Harm Reduction International
In Singapore, drug-related executions reached the highest number ever recorded since we started monitoring this in 2007. Using the death penalty for drug offences raises serious human rights concerns and it devastates communities.

The Star
The Star@staronline·
Renowned comedian and actor Harith Iskander has voiced his frustration over the queue system at a National Registration Department branch. In a video posted on his Instagram on Monday (March 16), Harith questioned why people were still made to wait, with some folk not even able to get a queue number ticket, after hours of waiting. He said he arrived 30 minutes before the counter to get tickets opened at 2pm but was shocked to find a long line. In case you guys are wondering how this entire Korea vs. Southeast Asia X-war started... This is what caused it. 👇 A bunch of Korean fansite people showed up with huge cameras, disrupted the entire event, and refused to follow the rules. 🙄

@MyColleagueMio2 Honestly, I think the girl kicked at the deer because she was afraid of it. Many people in urban China are quite afraid of animals off leash - dogs, birds, rats/mice, etc. Except cats. They're not really afraid of cats. Chinese people find them unpredictable, so scary

This is wild. Fans in India wreck the Salt Lake Stadium because Lionel Messi left 20 minutes after arriving. Tickets cost up to $133 and the scene turned ugly as people rampaged because they couldn't see Messi properly due to security and dignitaries.

We love to complain about government offices. But this one surprised me. Went to JPJ Putrajaya yesterday. (for my international audience, they’re the Road Transportation Department). Honestly, it didn’t even feel like a government office. It looked like a corporate office. Maybe even better than most corporate offices. The digital transformation there is great… Queue system’s all online, you get updates on your phone and I was served in under 3 minutes. But what really stood out was the people. The officers were friendly, helpful and genuinely wanted to solve your problem. I went there because I couldn’t find the answer online. I walked out with everything done. JPJ doesn’t get enough credit. They’ve come a long way, quietly transforming while everyone’s busy complaining. Good vibes and kudos to the team at JPJ Putrajaya. 🇲🇾

@cpjp_org_au He was selling drugs, ie. he was not merely a courier. He did not qualify for death sentence waiver. Greedy ones that destroy lives and families don’t deserve any pardon. Singapore does what it says.

EU in Singapore
EU in Singapore@EUinSingapore·
Joint Local Statement on the death penalty case of Hamzah bin Ibrahim in Singapore The Delegation of the European Union issues the following statement, together with the diplomatic missions of the EU Member States and the diplomatic missions of Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom in Singapore: The EU Delegation and the diplomatic missions of the EU Member States and of Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom call on the Singapore authorities to halt the execution of Mr Hamzah bin Ibrahim and that of any co-accused, and to commute their sentences to non-capital sentences. In keeping with our consistent strong and principled position against the death penalty, we oppose the use of capital punishment in all cases and in all circumstances and continue our active pursuit of its abolition worldwide. The death penalty is incompatible with the inalienable right to life and the absolute prohibition of cruel, inhuman or degrading punishment. The death penalty fails to act as a deterrent to crime and makes possible miscarriages of justice irreversible. Moreover, rehabilitation as an objective of modern criminal law is rendered impossible by the application of capital punishment. We advocate for Singapore to adopt a moratorium on all executions as a first step towards its full abolition, in line with the worldwide trend. eeas.europa.eu/delegations/si…
