今日は日本の都市伝説の話だ。
日本にはカーネル・サンダースの呪いという都市伝説がある。
1985年10月16日。
日本の野球チーム阪神タイガースがリーグ優勝を決めると日本の大阪の道頓堀一帯は熱狂と興奮に包まれた。
やがてボルテージが最高潮に達し暴徒と化した彼らは近所にあったKFCのカーネル・サンダース人形を強奪した。
主砲のアメリカ人のランディ・バース選手に見立てて胴上げすると挙げ句の果てに道頓堀川に投げ込んだ。
その後、同年の日本シリーズこそ西武ライオンズを下し球団初の日本一に輝くも、翌年以降優勝からは遠ざかり、特に1990年代から2000年代に初頭にかけては暗黒時代と呼ばれるほどの長期低迷に陥った。
やがて、この低迷は道頓堀に沈められたカーネル・サンダースの祟りではないかと囁かれるようになり都市伝説として定着した。

@WardoftheStates Unfortunately, my sister and the rest of my family like Solo. I see it as a creatively bankrupt, soulless, cash grab.

Star Wars fans will talk about the Sequels and Prequels and which ones were worse or how Rogue One was kinda OK.
But no one, and I mean NO ONE, ever brings up Solo organically.
It’s like we’ve all cleansed it from our collective memory.

Comparing The Force Awakens versus The Last Jedi. The latter was like a cruel joke played on the audience. Director Rian Johnson even starts the picture with a clumsy “Yo Mama” prank call. It’s like the old Andy Kaufman skits where he deliberately does a stand up routine so bad that the punchline is the comedian is laughing at the audience. The Force Awakens was a bad movie. But at least it was vaguely movie shaped. Like a day old birthday cake you buy at the supermarket. At least you recognize it as a Star Wars flick with the action lazily rehashing old scenes from the original trilogy. TLJ on the other hand was deliberately subversive. Its whole point was to tear down the previous seven episodes. Apparently for no reason other than Kathleen Kennedy’s spite.
