Shoulda, woulda, coulda.
And when I urged him to use his position as PM to leave the ECHR so we could stop the boats, he refused.
He couldn’t even bring himself to put it in the Tory manifesto.
Yet he kept promising the British people that he would do ‘whatever it takes’!
Never trust the Tory Party.
David Frost@DavidGHFrost
It's no good complaining now. Rishi Sunak had every chance to set out a vision during his two years as Prime Minister. The Tory Party would absolutely have got behind a properly conservative view. Instead we got nothing for a year, & then A-level reform and the smoking ban.

@Go37005Anthony @reform_uk The internet doesn’t forget Anthony Goodwin. You think you can just set up another account and all your anti-Muslim and Tommy Robinson support will just go away.
@reformparty_uk is sending hate up to Manchester.

PS Burnham also signals in @itvnews interview that rejoining the EU and scrapping the UK’s first-last-the-post electoral system would be for the next parliament.
If he becomes prime minister his immediate priorities would be to increase public ownership and control of vital public services while somehow reducing the national debt (he tells @DanielHewittITV repeatedly that he won’t take excessive risks with the public finances, but provides no detail).
And here is his mantra for the totemic Makerfield by-election: “Whitehall and Westminster don’t work for Makerfield.”
Robert Peston@Peston
Burnham to @DanielHewittITV: “Britain has been on the wrong path for a very long time”, including under the current Labour government. But “I’m not saying I’m the best” to lead Labour and the country (though this statement is probably not quite what he thinks) itv.com/news/2026-05-1…

I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that.
Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies. That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.
Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.
Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.
As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen.

Liverpool Football Club owners have a duty to their fans to serve the club's best interests.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫.
The players have lost faith in the manager's tactics.
Liverpool are in a downward spiral, and it will continue into next season if no action is taken.
The fans have lost all emotion and are numb watching the team.
@LFC needs new direction and new life. The fans need hope.
