Here is an overview of our recent open source project, SIMD-Bench, a framework for cross-architecture benchmarking and profiling SIMD kernels. It helps you evaluate and compare SIMD kernels performance across different instruction set architectures (ISAs), CPU platforms and CPU vendors. Unlike existing profilers that focus on single platforms or shallow metrics, SIMD-Bench combines reproducible cross-architecture benchmarking, roofline and top-down microarchitectural analysis, correctness validation, and energy metrics to deliver actionable, low-level insights that translate directly into reliable, portable performance gains. [OPEN SOURCE UPDATE] We just open-sourced SIMD-Bench, a framework to benchmark and profile SIMD kernels to evaluate and compare their performance across different instruction set architectures (ISAs), CPU platforms and CPU vendors. In GenAI inference, CPU overhead is a quiet tax: it blocks full GPU utilization, pushes latency up, and increases cost. SIMD kernels are one of the best levers we have for speeding up CPU-side work like tokenization, post-processing, and serialization. Writing portable SIMD is hard, but verifying and profiling it across architectures is even harder. We couldn’t find a truly portable, cross-platform profiler that gave the level of insight we needed. So we built one. That became SIMD-Bench.
