The core thesis behind Cyber has always been: crypto applications become more useful and engaging when they combine social context with onchain activity. What became clear over time was that the real unlock wasn’t where the data lived. It was whether that data was actually usable. Social data and onchain data each carry a lot of value, but they largely exist in isolation. Without unifying and structuring them, building richer applications becomes unnecessarily complex. That realization drove Cyber’s evolution into a unified data and identity layer. The focus shifted to making social and onchain data work together seamlessly, transforming raw activity into structured, high-quality inputs that modern applications, especially AI-native ones, can reason over. Surf emerged from this direction. By combining Cyber’s unified data layer with specialized AI models and agents, Surf showed what becomes possible when crypto data is actually usable. Its rapid adoption and $15M raise are not just milestones for Surf, but external validation of the problem Cyber set out to solve. The takeaway is simple: unifying social and onchain context is critical to the next generation of crypto applications. If you’re building crypto-native apps that need richer context or AI that can reason over crypto data, build on Cyber and use Surf’s AI models.

Surf 1.5: The First Step Toward Full Workflow Replacement Six months ago, we launched Surf to solve a problem we felt acutely as builders: general-purpose AI couldn't handle the domain-specific complexity of crypto research. Surf changed that, outperforming tools like ChatGPT and Grok by 4x on crypto tasks. Since then, the response has been humbling. Surf has generated nearly 2 million crypto research reports for founders, traders, and analysts. We talked to our users every step of the way and the feedback was consistent: Surf excels at specific tasks with high reliability, but it doesn't fully replace workflows end-to-end. Yet. We've listened and consistently shipped improvements, but we knew what we had was just the foundation of something bigger. Our goal has always been to build an AI that completely replaces complex crypto workflows, rather than just augmenting them. We call that vision Surf 2.0. We've now rebuilt every core component of Surf from the ground up in what we're calling Surf 1.5. It introduces an upgraded model with significantly deeper understanding of crypto-specific scenarios and enhanced tool-calling. This is where users begin to experience the transformation toward Surf 2.0. Why 1.5 Matters Surf 1.5 handles queries that were previously impossible or unreliable, with broader coverage, more comprehensive answers, and faster response times. It's easy to say our work makes the product more accurate and capable, but it's easier to show it. Imagine you're an investor evaluating a potential deal. You want to understand what other smart money is backing similar companies to validate your thesis. You're interested in AI projects, and two funds you respect are @PanteraCapital and @cbventures. > You ask: “List all deals Coinbase Ventures and Pantera Capital invested in together in 2025.” Surf 1.0 returns 4 deals with basic information in a table format. Clean, but incomplete. It lacks the context you need to understand why this matters. It’s missing one deal, Coinflow, and you still need to research what each company does, then create the thesis yourself. Surf 1.5 returns 5 deals (catching Coinflow, which 1.0 missed) with comprehensive analysis that helps you make decisions immediately: > Detailed company descriptions & market positioning > Investment timeline & sector breakdown > It even catches edge cases and identifies that RedotPay had separate investments from both and explains why it doesn't count as a joint deal The difference? With 1.0, you have a starting point but an incomplete picture. With 1.5, you have a complete, actionable investment memo. Surf 1.5 marks a major inflection point: the moment when crypto AI stops being a helpful research assistant and starts becoming capable of completing complex tasks and analysis. It's where augmentation and replacement begin to blur. Where completion of specific tasks ends and the automation of full workflows begins. Surf 1.5 won't handle every edge case yet, but it brings the intelligence and capabilities to replace more of your tasks and plug deeper into your workflows. What’s New in 1.5 Here's a preview of some of the new features: > Real-time news and feeds > Adaptive query routing > Multimodal support > and A LOT more 😈 This is just Chapter 2 in the journey to Surf 2.0 but with 1.5, we're taking the first major step. Surf 1.5 launches soon. Sooner than you might expect. If you're already using Surf, you'll be the first to see it. The wave is building so stay close. More details and access are just around the corner.

Surf is the first crypto AI that “understands both the data and the culture.” - @0xHiken & @tengyanAI, @cot_research Surf does more than aggregate data. It reasons on it so you act on live insights, not static information. “Information is abundant. Interpretation is scarce.”
Chain of Thought@cot_research

Everyone keeps shipping another crypto dashboard or chatbot. The real unlock is AI that reasons on live, verifiable data, then executes with auditability. Here is what you need to know: 🧵

Check out @ryanli’s keynote at @alt_layer’s (re)fundamentals, where he explains Surf and why we built it. "Crypto UX is outdated. With ChatGPT and Cursor, people expect agentic workflows. Surf delivers that." Cyber’s data infra lets Surf outperform SOTA models up to 2x on crypto tasks. youtube.com/watch?v=iS1UpV…

Team members from Cyber and @surfai recently published an academic paper with @Princeton researcher Zerui Cheng titled “When Hallucination Costs Millions.” The paper evaluates 17 leading AI models in adversarial crypto markets and uncovers critical weaknesses: • Agents lack skeptical reasoning, making them easy to mislead and prone to confident hallucinations • Models overuse web search and ignore specialized blockchain tools • Without tools, accuracy is near random. With tools, they still trail humans due to poor tool use and gullibility Read the whole report here: arxiv.org/pdf/2510.00332
