Our first growth hack worked.
Quick context: we've built a creator-payments platform @BuildWithGrove. Think Linktree, but with paid messaging and paid content built in.
Two weeks ago, we started pre-registering creators on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and X. People with 25k-250k followers who never asked to join. We signed them up, emailed them, then tipped their content for a couple days. $0.01 to $0.10 per tip.
Today, one of them (a creator with ~60k followers on X) posted a screenshot of our platform asking their audience what this platform even is.
My partner, @fredt_io, jumped in, answered their questions, and converted them to a user.
Total cost of that acquisition: less than $1.00.

Been using @BuildWithGrove for a bit lately, built by the Pocket Network founders.
On the website, connect your socials, X, YouTube, Twitch and more, and get tipped directly wherever you post. OAuth verification across 12+ platforms, fans know it's you.
“Tip to Talk” lets you price your DMs, so if someone wants your attention, they pay for it. Might keep mine at 42 cents, for now.
You keep 90% of every tip, youtube takes ~30%, twitch ~50%. Paid in USDC.
There's also a 2% referral on anyone you bring in, and more monetization coming.
Recently they added a live feed showing tips happening in real time, nice way to see who’s active.

The creator economy is a $250 billion market.
A creator in Lagos makes a video. Gets 2 million views. A US platform pays them in USD. Here's what actually happens to the money:
30% platform cut. Tax withheld at source. USD converted to local currency — 2–3% FX spread. Two-week settlement delay. Zero ability to price individual pieces of content.
They made the content. They can't access the money.
