@danigeos Already decades ago, microfossils had hinted at this story. Now, by combining paleoclimate data, landscape models, and sediment records, the study offers a comprehensive view of this dynamic pre-megaflood phase and the freshwater reshaping of a salt giant.

@danigeos 🌍 But it wasn’t a simple refill: Sea level oscillated by over a kilometre, driven by orbital cycles in Earth’s insolation. These shifts caused alternating wetter and drier phases, reshaping the landscape repeatedly over 200,000+ years.
