Not a favorite photo for Andrew Alvidrez, but I’m pretty sure that the K Bar C crew will like it. Preachers Kid has always been one of the bulls I enjoy photographing. He bucks hard and kicks out making for great photos.

It typically takes the new guys a few events to hit their stride when they get to the big show. Jacksonville was where it happened for Jesse Petri w/ 88.75 point ride. Timing the shot to catch a cowboy in mid spur stroke makes a photo like this a cowboy’s favorite wall hanger.⁠

As Ezekiel Mitchell closes in on the final seconds of the ride, Frank Newsom sneaks into position to make a quick save. It’s tough to position myself to avoid getting the bullfighters in the shot, so I use them as a part of the image to tell the story. Shot for @pbr

I sure like bulls that paw dirt on themselves throughout the day before they buck. The explosion of dust adds such a cool element to the photos. Sometimes it can even be too much, but this shot of Paulo Ferreira Lima had just the right amount.⁠ ⁠ Shot for @PBR

Cody Webster knew going in for this save that it probably wasn’t going to end well, but didn’t hesitate to jump in. The bull focused all his attention on Cody, throwing him into the out gate and breaking two of his ribs. He fought the rest of the night and the next day.

I’m not sure, but I think Jose Vitor Leme is going to make a pretty good bull rider 😉 It’s amazing how he shows up and dominates. Looking at this photo, you are hard pressed to find fault with his form. If not already, he may become one of the best bull riders of all time.

Positioning is key for a good photo opportunity. I always like to line a cowboy up with the pyro, but when I get a chance to use the flame burners, I always adjust for a silhouette. Leonardo Lima made for the perfect subject in Billings.

Up and coming bull rider, J.T. Moore, was giving it everything he had to ride Paradigm Bull Company’s High Brow Cat during the Billings PBR. I sure respect the effort these cowboys put out every week so we can all enjoy watching this sport.

Another example of capturing a moment, frozen in time. Looking at this photo, I noticed the bull looking out of the corner of his eye at Ezekiel Mitchell. I wonder what was going through each of their minds at this moment…?

@codylteel has found himself in a compromising position. The bull, Kid Knapper, has been getting the reputation of bucking cowboys to the ground. This time it feels like he could get the best of Cody. Fortunately, everything turned out ok.

Here’s an example of why still photography is so cool… Being able to stop and look at every detail in this shot is awesome. There’s just too much to take in to get the same effect from a video.

I guess I’d have to caption this photo, “Bull Hug”. I’m not sure what @josevitorleme would caption it, but he was pretty lucky to come out of it as unscathed as he did. It didn’t hurt to have these three bullfighters there at the ready to get him out as soon as they could.

Stretch is one of those bulls that always amazes me with his athletic abilities. Freezing this moment at the height of his buck with Dener Barbosa gives you the chance to take it all in. Imagine what it takes to get 1500 pounds this high off the ground.

Lights and smoke from the pyro are always welcome in my world. Our openings rarely change, so finding different elements is key. I like the way the light and smoke frame Cooper Davis in this photo, giving it a look that can’t be achieved with a dark house. ⁠ ⁠ Shot for @pbr

Kaique Pacheco isn’t number one in the PBR World Standings right now for no reason. He is making bull riding look easy week after week. It was sure fun to capture him riding Chiseled for 90.25 points last weekend on his way to the event win.

Some of the most unsung heroes in our sport, are the sports medicine team. Our riders put all their trust in them to help them stay healthy, and recover quickly from injuries. Eduardo Aparecido is pretty happy to have them at his side after taking a shot during the Nampa event.

Getting things right before you take a wrap is always important. I like this shot of Junior Patrick Souza because he provides us with a feeling of seriousness. The thoughts that go through a guys head at this point is only known to those who have been there.

Another event where the iconic Be Cowboy sign comes into play. I always like the way the lights from the sign work into an image, especially here when the riders were introduced as they walked over the shark cage.

Nampa’s arena offers some unusual opportunities for photography. A small hallway is used to get to the chutes. TV has lights along the way. When you can capture the guys walking in and out of these lights, the images look like they were shot with a studio setup.

If you ever wonder what face you would make after having last pick in the draft, and getting on one of the hardest bulls in the world to successfully ride, this would probably be it. After riding his bull in the at the OKC PBR, Chase Dougherty’s excitement didn’t go unnoticed.
