With all the context given, the response from toby fox was calling our languages and our people worthless. They have all the right to retaliate. But of course the people who get everything don't know how it is to not get anything.

@terriyakilol @paidoredpkmn How is it weird? The dude's passionate about gaming, JRPGs, visual novels, etc. He has a great interest in this kind of stuff, and most of them don't even get official English translations.

@terriyakilol @paidoredpkmn The kinds of games that Toby is interested in aren't as commonly made in Latin America. There's a reason why JRPGs have the "J" in them.
Like, it's fine for the man to have a healthy interest in a place where his favorite games and creators come from. This isn't somehow immoral.

@terriyakilol @paidoredpkmn It doesn't take *as much* time because he already knows the language, so it's a considerably more reasonable sacrifice.
Taking on multiple languages he *doesn't know* would take ridiculously long. Stopping at just two until after the project is finished is perfectly reasonable.

@terriyakilol @paidoredpkmn Like, if you really want to be "fair", then he'd have to manage translations for Russian, French, German, Portuguese, etc. He'd have to make sure those were all well-crafted to his standards while trying to develop a game with an ongoing story.
This would take forever dude.

And do you not see the problem where, if the JP translation takes time, how long it's gonna be for a Spanish one AND other languages?

This is far from the only compromise he had to make during the localization process
"Oh, so his vision doesn't matter?" It was his vision to choose the things to compromise on. He wants it to remain as close to his vision while it not being a huge detriment. This isn't hypocrisy

For people who claim Toby doesn't get how localization works, you lot don't seem to get the basic principle of "compromise" when it comes to localization. He probably thought it'd be better to retain Sans' name.
