So after reflecting on it, I have decided to take down the story about the high school QB in WV. Initially, I viewed it as a wild end to a game and a viral moment - it was already viral because someone else posted the video.
But as an actual journalist with a legit resume, I should’ve taken the time to consider that it’s a kid and not a professional athlete or even college star making NIL money. He didn’t lose the game all on his own. His team wouldn’t have been in that situation without his play. He doesn’t need a reminder story that pushes it to be more viral.
Also, I’m just as annoyed with the state of journalism as anyone. The overuse of “breaking news” to beef up engagement or refusing to credit people sucks.
With all that said, I’m a man enough to take accountability if appropriate.
@PaulMountaineer Respectfully, how is filming a few videos at home “working hard?” These comments are embarrassing to people who get up and go do actual work every day.
Focus goes, energy flows. Its easy to remember the hate that gets spewed, and forget there are more of these, all though not always this nice! Thanks so much to Adspur and Scotty for these comments.
Just a quick shout out! Thanks!
@MountainGrown71@PaulMountaineer Telling a content creator to stop bring on players on his show is idiotic.. I know a couple times staff at WVU have actually reached out to him to do a show about a recruit who was on a visit..
I pay the players. If you aren't willing to pony up to get appearances, then idk what to say to you. Don't hate me for it. Couz can attest now that he's gone, Tucker Devries, like him or not, made 1000 dollars because of these "unaffiliated podcasters". I pay out of my own wallet alot of the time.
@PaulMountaineer You get less than 5,000 views a day. Which means you make about $5 a day. You aren’t paying anyone anything unless the money was given to you.
@PaulMountaineer@MountainGrown71 Serious question: You don’t get 5K views a day. So you don’t make $5 a day. So where is the thousands of dollars coming from?
Excuse me? I have ONGOING relationships with these dudes. DO i listen to whatever show you put out or comment on what you do? Nope. I stay in my own lane.
I've built alot of these up through several ways. THOUSANDS of dollars in NIL i've provided to guys like Henderson, Lee, Katzer, etc to come on.
I've also taken dudes like Bowers and publicly supported them before it was cool.
You act like i'm some dude that's bothering them, when in fact it's an ongoing dialog. I don't need you to like it.
We have a game in Athens tomorrow. Yet you’re worried about burners saying mean things about you and posting content about old coaches. You make it too easy to troll you.
VOM has tweeted 83 times about Neal brown since he was fired in December, and 16 times since August 1st. No one beats a dead horse like him, find a new story Brad.
@fake_howe@overtimenicco8 You have no idea what VOM puts out because you clearly don’t read them. You’re a loser burner who reads nothing but message boards and Twitter.
@BurnerCouch@overtimenicco8 You’re not exactly someone that’s worth a high effort conversation. Maybe focus on not creating garbage content and replying to them with one of your 8 burners because no one else takes you seriously.
