Further detail: ESPN’s intention was to inform Ryan Clark on Tuesday, but there was growing concern the news would leak as word began spreading privately. Out of respect for Clark, ESPN executives told him during the show so he could hear it directly from them first.

why…? who cares if they want to pay him more today because he took a paycut a few years ago… the Miami Heat did the same thing with Chris Bosh back in the day, this isn’t a big deal. it’s a handshake agreement that the team could easily go back on, risk for both sides.
