❤️ When #students dysregulate and exhibit unexpected behaviors, they are thinking with the emotional part of their brain at that moment. This is not a teachable moment. It is a time to connect, not correct. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Teachers #UDL

When my 23 year old self accepted a job in Sun West, I had no idea the gift I was about to be given in that I have found so much more than a job. SO MUCH more. The people I get to surround myself with are incredible. #reflecting

"Reframing is a crucial starting-point for breaking a stress cycle: recognizing that your problems aren't due to a lack of willpower/character flaw, but the result of ⬆️ level of tension casued by stressors, many of which you likely haven't even recognized yet." #ShankerWisdom

RTI is more about what we do in ALL classrooms than intervention. RTI first means creating warm, inclusive, welcoming, environments that deliver the best instruction and respond with intervention after instruction isn’t fully successful. #LeadInclusion #EdChat #UDL #Inclusion

Our diversity is our strength! Every student is normal in every way, because variation is normal. It’s time we widen our view of “normal” to include the full range of our students. #LeadInclusion #EdChat #UDL #Inclusion #EdLeaders

When Tier 1 is weak, lots of students look like they need intervention. When Tier 2 is weak, lots of students look like they need Tier 3 or special education. Strong investments in Tier 1 & Tier 2 is a critical starting place for prevention. Access gaps = outcome gaps.

There are no “special education students” or “Tier 2” or “Tier 3 students,” and students are never exclusively “yours” or “mine.” Every student in the building is our student first and foremost. #LeadInclusion #EdChat #UDL #UDLchat #Inclusion #EdLeadership
