Pacman Jones says he committed to Georgia Tech, then pulled out after hearing they’d have to go to class every day and do homework “I was committed to Georgia Tech. I had offers from everywhere: Georgia, Notre Dame, NC State, Tennessee, Miami, Florida. I could have went anywhere besides Michigan and Ohio State.” “First I wanted to stay home, then my grandma got sick with cancer and I was like, I got to get away from here… My boy who went to high school with me went to Georgia Tech, and he was like, ‘bro, this school hard as hell, we got to go to class every day.’ I said, y’all doing all the work? That one’s off the list.” “Then I went on the visit to West Virginia, we wasn’t doing no work. Work was football.”

I think that’s a bit of a stretch. Online controversy can get people talking, but it doesn’t usually revive a career on its own. If Elliot Page gets more major roles, it’ll probably come down to the projects and performances, not just the discourse around The Odyssey.
Shelbys_fade@ShelbysFade

The Odyssey controversy might've just saved Elliot Page's career There was a lot of talk about Lupita Nyongo's presence as Helen in Odyssey, and as someone who was already a major lead actress in Hollywood, I don't think the toxic backlash was worth it for her. But there was another actor who was a controversial addition to the movie, and that's Elliot Page (previously Ellen Page - he played the female lead in Inception). He transitioned to being a trans man in 2020. In the 6 years prior to publically transitioning in 2020, he'd been in 7 live-action films, 2 of which were major studio movies (Flatliners and Days of Future Past). He also produced three of the 5 indies he was the lead in during that stretch. Thats on top of two hit seasons as the lead of Netflix's Umbrella Academy Since 2020, he's been in two seasons of Umbrella Academy (right before the show was canceled) and two movies - a semi-autobiographical indie about transitioning, and 5 minutes of Odyssey His career had suffered mightily after coming out as a trans man, and that's still compared to the stretch of his career right after 2014, which is also after he'd come out as a lesbian (and thus was already considered by hollywood to be less bankable) So Elliot Page was going to fall into obscurity on his own, and by bringing him into mainstream discourse so aggressively (for a 3 minute cameo, no less), rightwing chuds have inadvertently just given his career a lifeline. The fact that he was pretty solid as Sinon, a performance people will now notice more than they would've otherwise - helps too Don't be surprised if you hear an announcement of a TV show starring Elliot Page in the near future

The funniest line in the Odyssey isn't "our age of bronze is collapsing" It's Odysseus explaining to Penelope that the abduction of Helen stuff was just an excuse and Agamemnon did all that shit for socio economic reasons (control of trade routes).

I’m so sick and tired of people blaming “the white man did this” or “the white man did that,” or saying the 3 letter network did this or the 4 letter network did that. Ryan Clark, man up. That’s life. All them damn tears and crying is crazy to me. You played 13 NFL seasons from 2002 to 2014 with the Giants, Washington, and most notably the Steelers. You made roughly $29.9 million in the NFL. Then you joined ESPN in 2015 and, over roughly 11 years, reportedly made somewhere in the neighborhood of $15–20 million. You also started The Pivot, which is estimated to generate $3.5 million to $9 million annually. Now you’re talking about seeking acceptance and validation? Crying about this and that? Fam… man up. You have your own podcast. You have your own platform. You can say whatever you want, and your audience will follow you. Stop acting like ESPN is the only place your voice matters. Us independent media creators grind every single day. I put in 15 to 17 hour days producing content, and people still overlook what we do. We’ve been in the same rooms as y’all. The difference is, we had to pay to be there. Y’all got in for free. I’ll never forget paying thousands of dollars to cover Cowboys training camp as independent media, then watching The Pivot walk right in and get moved to the front because of borrowed credibility. Y’all got the exclusive access without ever reaching into your pockets. Over here at Law Nation Media, we’ve had to earn and pay for every single inch we’ve gained. Do you see me crying? Do you see me complaining? Do you see me whining? No. I get back to work. If I had just a fraction of one of those ESPN or NFL checks, it would completely change my small business. But I don’t spend my time looking for sympathy. I spend my time creating. Independent media is always the way. Nobody owes us anything. You build your audience, own your platform, and bet on yourself. That’s how you create real freedom. So wipe them damn tears, get back to work, and go build your own empire. You’ve got the audience, you’ve got the platform, and you’ve got all the time in the world to say exactly what you want without looking over your shoulder. The money will come. Now go earn it.

Nothing beats a few hours in the sun torturing fish, eh? So many people seem to think that fish are unfeeling swimming robots. They are not. They feel fear, and you can bet they feel pain when stainless steel hooks rip through their mouths. Catch and release is not harmless fun; it is harmful, even deadly, for many fish, but who gives a fuck about fish when there are photos to be taken? You have no idea what kind of life the woman lives or what hobbies she might have; you have no idea what level of self-awareness she has, but if you were a little smarter, you would have the idea that her awareness extends into the world enough to know that a living creature is suffering right in front of her and she has the courage to point that out and try to do something to end its ordeal. You, meanwhile, seem indifferent to the suffering of another living being. Courageous people do not wait to be invited to prevent suffering. The lady has guts, and you insult her for it.

This Karen saw a dad and his boy having a pure, normal father-son moment—kid just caught a fish, they’re lining up the photo, kid’s grinning ear to ear—and her brain short-circuited. Instead of walking past like a functional adult, she marches over to harass them. Because heaven forbid a little boy gets to keep the memory of holding up his catch with his dad. Nope. She had to insert herself into the frame like the main character of a movie nobody asked for. These people are allergic to other people’s happiness. A kid catches a fish and she treats it like a personal attack on her existence. The sheer entitlement is wild. No life, no hobbies, no self-awareness—just pure, unfiltered need to police joy. Imagine being so empty that you see a dad and his son taking a picture with a fish and think, “This is my moment.” Sit down, Karen. Nobody invited you.

How exactly is that hating?. I just figured it would make sense for people to actually want to play the game part of the video game. It’s a piece of software, so even with modern technology there’s only so much you can put on it, so the more time and attention to detail you put into nitpicking uniforms and accessories, you’re probably going to end up losing out on something that could’ve fixed gameplay or made one of the modes better and more immersive🤷🏾‍♂️
