@alzheimerssoc @Dementia_UK How can anguished carers still be emailing me in late 2024 to say staff in their local hospitals haven’t the first idea about #dementia care? With so many hospitals delivering impeccable dementia care, how can other hospitals justify doing so little?
English

A privilege to discuss #dementia care enhancement with @DrTWilliamson this morning; it always is. Great to see leadership that directly leads to benefits for people living with dementia, their carers and their local hospital teams.

I rarely tweet these days, but what an uplifting session chatting with the fabulous @DeightonJo47103 just now! Vision, passion, graft - a real privilege to work with you, Jo!

@WendyPMitchell So very sad and shocked to hear the news. Your powerhouse of a mum has done it her way and I suppose we all knew she’d remain in charge in every way she could. Great sadness at the departure of a true campaigner - and my sincere condolences to you, her beloved daughters.

This is Sarah and Gemma, Wendy’s daughters. Our mum died peacefully early this morning. She wrote a blog post before she died so you can read about it from her perspective.

@zulfiqar_nabila Just read an article you’d written which included examples of inappropriate dementia care in hospital. Please be assured that lots of hospitals are now getting their care spot on. By all means email or DM me if you’d like more info.

@EnhanceCareCHFT @CHFTNHS @JoScadden It’s always so uplifting when #dementia #care #leadership takes on board the need to maintain education - and I know you do. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It's @ButterflyScheme relaunch week at @CHFTNHS and we have teamed up with @JoScadden to raise awareness. Come and say hello. We're at HRI this week and CRH next week! #TeamWork #dementiacare

English

@EnhanceCareCHFT @CHFTNHS So pleased to welcome you as a Butterfly Scheme Champion!
English

Chioma is a nurse @CHFTNHS & asked us to become a @ButterflyScheme champion on her ward. The positivity, passion and enthusiasm that Chioma has for all things person centred dementia care is fabulous to see & we are thrilled that you are now a champion!🤗 #DementiaCare #NHS

@DrGrantGibson @suzysopenheart You can probably watch it on iplayer.

@Nigelj08223326 @adamgordon1978 So many other potential causes to all those experiences, though. Awareness is helpful, but oversimplification often isn’t.

@Nigelj08223326 @BazzaCC @RobertArnol @PrinPeta @pijush357ray @pettet50 #Dementia insight and care education is needed by everyone, but certainly by any professionals likely to be meeting members of the public. It can take as little as one hour to give someone enough dementia insight and care skills to transform their approach. Essential!

Huge thanks to the fabulous staff of @thelondonclinic who attended @ButterflyScheme training today; your engagement and enthusiasm were superb. We really appreciated the heartwarming feedback and the warm welcome. Enjoy using the Scheme! #dementia #memorysupport

Well done to Nina Warhurst and #BBCBreakfast for a very sensible, sensitive, well-expressed and helpful piece this morning about LPAs and how tough it is for carers trying to support loved ones without an LPA.
English

@SASHChiefNurse With warm thanks from the Butterfly Scheme for your commitment to #dementia care - and supporting the outstanding Lead and team. May you thoroughly enjoy the next phase of your life!
English

Post-pandemic care restoration is one thing, but new hospital #Dementia Leads coming into role and finding nothing at all in place - and no ambition from bosses to actually put anything in place - is quite another. It’s happening all the time now - like slipping back 10 yrs.

@moo01_moore @UhmbtV @diannesmith65 @emmafitton74 @KimCrab14290965 Fantastic! When you’re unsure of your surroundings and don’t have your usual support around you (and can’t perhaps read a book or otherwise sustain an activity independently), this sort of input massively reduces anxiety.
English

I am very excited to say that we have appointed an activity coordinator. This role will have a massive impact on our patients, particularly those with dementia 🥰@UhmbtV @diannesmith65 @emmafitton74 @KimCrab14290965
English

@TKeegal @WendyPMitchell Ideally, there’d be enough funding for all of it, wouldn’t there?
English

@ButterflyScheme @WendyPMitchell But they could extend the network quicker if they accepted professionals other than nurses. Therapists work with those with dementia.
English

OT’s can help people with dementia soooo much, if only we were routinely referred to you 😔

Collin the caterpillar and a new CPD read = a good train journey! 20 pages into @WendyPMitchell “What I wish people knew about dementia” and I’ve already learnt so much. Lots to reflect on and lots that could apply to #occupationaltherapy. #OTstudent
