I'm running numbers on family trusts. If the trust owned by mum, dad, and 19-year-old daughter earns $180,000 a year and they distribute $60,000 to each the tax will be three times $9,000 = $27000. At 30% flat, it's $54,000. That's double - The only way out is to change distributions to wages, but they must be able to justify the wage. It's a shameful attack on business

@_SocialDemocrat @NoelWhittaker Yes, tax avoidance is built into a Family Trust. Noel has just showed us this. Which is fine, if it is within the law, but when the law changes, so be it. That’s life! There are still other benefits to having a Trust - which I notice Noel didn’t mention.

@NoelWhittaker So exactly how much is in that trust that earns $180k a year and where did it come from and at what rate would it be taxed if it wasn’t locked ip in a tax avoidance scam, aka a trust.

Genuine respect to the Liberal Party. After Abbott and Morrison, finding a worse leader should have been physically impossible. And yet, through sheer force of will, they've pulled it off.

@Buttermarg2 I thought same Margarine.Didn’t LNP only build very few houses in the10 years and in gov. Looks like we won’t be getting many aged care staff, nurses, fruit pickers, builders, restaurant staff & 1000’s of other necessary workers coming into our country under LNP’s policies.
