The Ministry of Works and Transport has admitted that out of the four buses that were involved in various road crashes across Uganda, three of these buses weren’t licensed due to poor mechanical condition and thus weren’t meant to be driven on the roads. The revelation was made by Winston Katushabe, Commissioner Transport Regulation at the Ministry of Works and Transport, while appearing before Parliament’s Committee on Physical Infrastructure, where he also admitted that Government hasn’t yet identified the driver that was driving the bus that caused a crash in Kapchorwa district and this same bus had been rejected by Government due to its poor mechanical condition. If, by chance, any of the four teams Bugingo mentioned had won the World Cup, the internet would now be flooded with posts calling him a true mutume of God. And his sheep that always dance in the rain would be dancing till their bones ache, they would dance and celebrate mpaka kuwulira bubi🙈

Before any school bus leaves the compound, three questions should be answered: Is the bus roadworthy? Is the driver fit and well-rested? Is the route and weather risk assessed? Safety starts before the engine is switched on.#roadsafety

This morning, I flagged off emergency food relief to Karamoja sub-region at the headquarters of National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) in Bugolobi, Kampala. This follows a directive from H.E. President @KagutaMuseveni to support communities affected by the prolonged dry spell. The extended dry spell has disrupted agricultural production, depleted household food stocks, and increased the risk of food insecurity in the sub-region. We are going to deliver 9,419,610 kilograms of relief food, comprising maize flour and dry beans, to 313,987 households across 480 parishes in the nine districts of Karamoja. My office is coordinating the exercise in partnership with the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), the @MODVA_UPDF , @UgandaPrisons @Ugandapolice1, and local governments to ensure efficient, and transparent distribution of the food relief. I thank @SamEngola3 , the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees @EstherAnyakun , the Minister of State for Karamoja, @Alioniodria , the Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance, Lt. Gen. James Mugira, NEC Managing Director and MPs from Karamoja, for taking part in this important event. We are going to deliver the good to the parishes and I urge all stakeholders involved to ensure it reaches the intended beneficiaries.@OPMUganda @Parliament_Ug @GovUganda
