It's been a long road. Back in 2010, I had an idea: a marketplace where English producers could sell directly to the public. I underestimated the scale. So this year I started smaller, with what we do best - food and drink. Nearly six months on, MadeInEngland.com is almost live. The mission is simple. Promote the purchase of English-made products. Help English makers thrive. Support jobs, shorten supply chains, and build a place people instinctively think of when they want to buy something made here in England. It's been exhausting at times. But I can finally feel excited about what comes next. #MadeInEngland

Sugrue South Downs’ The Trouble With Dreams 2009 Magnum won Best in Show at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2025. @Nyetimber's Blanc de Blancs 2016 Magnum was named Champion Sparkling Wine at the International Wine Challenge 2025. These aren’t novelty awards. These are English wines competing at the top end globally.

99% of the wine consumed in England is imported. Yet there are now over 1,000 vineyards producing award-winning wine on home soil, with sales growing year on year. If just 5% of the market shifted to local producers, that's around £750 million a year staying here. Supporting jobs, businesses and investment across the country. Was in B&M today & cashier told me the HP Fruity Sauce is now made in the Netherlands and talked about Cadbury's & how choc not as nice after was sold

Cadbury was founded in Birmingham in 1824. In 2010, it was acquired by an American company. Today, much of the profit from one of England's best-known chocolate brands flows to overseas shareholders. The UK chocolate market is worth over £8 billion a year. If just 10% shifted to English-made producers, that's £800 million supporting businesses, jobs and investment here. @LaurenJ77 LOTS of people buy Moet and Tattinger when it's inferior to many English sparking whites. Obviously we don't have the weather to compete with red wine producers.

78% of draught beer in UK pubs comes from just 5 global corporations. Homegrown brewers make 6% — and many can't even get into your local. The pub should be the best shop window for local producers. It's become a billboard for multinationals. Time to build our own. MadeInEngland.com

@BuyEnglishMade @QueVitaNostra Have you thought about adding a feature (in an app or via your website) for telling the user from a photograph whether a product they’re looking at is made in England? That, and/or a barcode scanner when those are visible. Great website idea btw.

I would actually like to move to an “only owned, operated and produced by ethically British people buying habit. I already buy from local farm shops and only use English services where possible. We need to buy local and support local businesses.

@BuyEnglishMade I went to the denby visitors centre recently. The factory tour is no longer available as they're not making anything. The staff in the shop, which is running a clearance sale, say that production will not recommence.

Denby is a reminder that English-made heritage does not survive on nostalgia alone. Founded in Derbyshire in 1809, now in administration, with manufacturing reportedly stopped — but still trading. Much of their stock is now on sale. If you’ve ever wanted to buy Denby, this is probably the moment to support them through their website. If we value these brands, we have to buy from them while they’re still here.
