Today in cooking club we made cheese & onion soft pretzels. This is an unusual bread as you have to boil them in a bicarb water bath before baking. Sounds horrible, but they taste amazing! Martha in Yr7 created some excellent knots! 😋

Year 10 students have enjoyed a workshop with the Fun! Chinese Cuisine Ambassadors. They learnt about Chinese culture, how to portion chicken thighs, then make chicken in blackbean sauce! 😋

Excellent problem solving skills used here. Can you tell which answer the tiger and hamster from year 7 are trying to tell me?

What better way for Year 11 to revise Food Science ... with the aid of a bit of Harry Potter magic! Can you tell Mrs Callaway introduced this resource?!! ⚡️🧙

Mrs Callaway & Miss McCormick enjoyed a 2 day residential with 12 Yr 10's who were part of the @LEAF_Education agricultural research project! 🐑 Including sensory analysis, pollination, engineering & handling sheep! Student experienced uni life too!

We had a surprise visit during our LEAF residential with Year 10 ... HRH the Duchess of Edinburgh! 👸😲

Thanks to @ih_nutrition for another great set of sessions talking about 'Food and Mood' today! 8 Year 9 classes gained valuable information!

To be in the chance of us winning £100 of fresh fish, Mr Powell needed to cook any fish dish to any class & upload a pic. He cooked Cod Fish Tacos, with coleslaw & quac to Yr8. 😋 Students loved it!!! He also took great delight in using Mrs Callaway! Wish us luck!! 🤞👨‍🍳🐟

Today Year 9 had a visit from a Nutritionist to discuss 'Food & Mood'. They enjoyed an interactive workshop which included how food can increase anxiety, why we shouldn't skip breakfast & tips on eating well! 😋🍎🍌🍍

Every KS3 practical one student is awarded 'Star Baker'.This includes a prize, 1 on register & entry into a prize draw to potentially win a bigger prize at the end of the year. Today in Mrs Callaways lesson Yelda was the lucky recipient & we had a very special guest presenter! 👩‍🍳

10C also made and presented some fabulous Afternoon Tea's! 🫖🍰🥪

Recently Year 10 have been completing a group task for their Afternoon Tea assessed piece. This is to give them an idea of what is expected for their NEA in Year 11. Some lovely results from 10B! Well done! 🫖🍰🥪

Today we saved the liquid from tins of chickpeas during Yr8 practicals. It is called Aquafaba & can be used as an egg replacement. Miss McCormick then whipped up some vegan meringues & froze the rest of the liquid in portions to use in the future! #FoodWasteActionWeek 👍
