Why can’t returning travellers simply go home, do a test from a company like @Bwellness_uk and then go back to work. The testing technology is available, why are our Government so terrified of allowing us to seek alternative solutions to the problem? @grantshapps

Jersey has adopted this approach, results are delivered within 72hrs, staying at home 14 days is the cheaper solution but not to the economy or people’s livelihoods.

If incubation period is 2 weeks then you need to isolate until that’s over. it’s desperately sad for those people whose holidays are affected, but too soon to be rushing off here & there for me.. @kazsam92 @KirstieMAllsopp @grantshapps The reason for the 14 day quarantine period is so that people don’t have to be tested. The economic loss of that versus the cost of testing is significantly higher. The sensible option would be to test all passengers upon arrival, they go home to quarantine get results in 24hrs.

@ljcoz @KirstieMAllsopp @grantshapps This is not the case, an RT PCR test will detect an infection from the onset regardless of the stage of incubation or being asymptomatic. Testing is readily available and swift to detect the virus at any stage.

In the Ukraine for example, passengers quarantine, take a test, results given within 24hrs and if negative they’re released, It’s simple.

@KirstieMAllsopp @BWellness_UK @grantshapps Tests are useless in this situation...You could catch it on the plane in the way home. Incubation is normally 5-6 days, but can be up to 14.

@Adamjpritchard @KirstieMAllsopp @grantshapps Our German tests have clinical accuracy levels of 98%+ we are frequently detecting infected asymtomatic people. whilst no test is 100% some testing is better than no testing. 35%~40% of NHS Swab tests are returned inconclusive. Our clinician led home service eliminates this.

@Carter_SG1 @KirstieMAllsopp @grantshapps It’s better than the current testing of none.... we are frequently detecting asymptomatic infected people, they’ve had no symptoms..... by testing and detecting they then no to isolate. Some testing is better than no testing at all.

@BWellness_UK @PHE_EoEngland @KirstieMAllsopp It is misleading and morally wrong to provide tests without the caveat attached explaining that if you have had contact with a positive case, even if a test is negative, you should continue to isolate for 14 days. The two need to coexist. Our job would be a lot easier if you did.

Those countries which have managed the virus spread do so by deploying frequent mass testing to the general public. Britain has been slow to respond on all aspects, our death rate is testimony to this.

Just been told that an event I was due to speak at in February in London has been pushed back to June because they fear gatherings of 800 will still not be allowed in February. Looks like normality is a long way off.
