My current ranking for films I’ve seen this year. Expect this to totally get shaken up with the amount of amazing films coming in the second half of the year.

I’ve seen many people argue Star Wars has lost their touch on the big screen. I truly think it’s more of a combination of a seriously divided fanbase along with the need to chase nostalgia instead of going for something original.

@ByronLafayette It’s a sequel to a Disney plus show. I really think Star Wars would benefit from leaving the skywalker timeline for something original. It’s obvious the fanbase feels so strongly about those characters I think going a new direction could help us fall in love Star Wars again.

I truly think it could be just one movie for the general public to be brought back to Star Wars. Certain sides of the fanbase will always have issues with what is released.

Backrooms has been on my mind since I saw it last night. I’ve really enjoyed hearing people’s reaction to it. I think horror is truly the genre above all else in film that continues to push boundaries and try new things.

So cool to see YouTubers turned Directors doing well. I could really see that pipeline growing in the future.

Really enjoyed Backrooms. The entire time I kept thinking “how did a 20 year old direct this”. Super intense film throughout and the cast does an excellent job. While the ending left more to be desired, I still had a great time.

@aurevios Skinamarink is one movie I’ve been scared to watch again just because of how terrified I was on first watch.
