Baby girl graduating HS, heading to USF sends me down memory lane. Classic when we signed her up for Majors baseball at age 10. (We already knew she was gonna be a PROBLEM in HS - just didn’t know it would be in Hoops & LAX. Would’ve been softball, too, this yr but damn ACL 😡)

Big peeve about the 1-week+ gap for FHSAA baseball playoffs: Hitters need live reps. Everybody becomes a pinch-hitter dusting off rust in that first game. You can’t simulate live 92 mph w/ a machine. Curious if teams go live during prep week, w/ pitchers capped at 30.

Accepted engineering job he wanted most on Friday. Graduated on Sunday. Wasn’t all books. (I mean, he is my boy.) Played club baseball and rugby for 3+ years at USF, too. LJ made the most of his time as a Bull. What a great weekend for our family.

Starting to dive into MLB Draft prep. Working on a specific No. 1 overall pick spreadsheet. Started doing it the old-fashioned way, then prompted AI. It built a complete table in seconds. Awesome! Except I've already found 5 embarrassing fact errors. CQ everything, kids.

Jesuit completes its sweep of Pinellas County public schools. Took us out in District final. Took out Seminole and Osceola in Regionals to return to state semifinals.

Then Jesuit botches a pop-up AND a run-down that leads to Osceola run. Can’t remember the last time Jesuit has looked this sloppy, rushed. Shocking, actually. Basically a college lineup w an SEC commit on the mound.

FHSAA 4A/R3: Jesuit just had its 2nd runner thrown out at home. In first inning of Game 2. That’s 5th Jesuit runner Osceola has thrown out on the bases in 8 innings of baseball. 3B coach has to adjust. Unnecessarily aggressive. 3-0 lead could have been much bigger. @Biggamebobby

Credit to Osceola. Attacked Waechter’s FB, didn’t chase slider on a night he struggled with secondary command. Made Jesuit play baseball, forced them into mistakes. We couldn’t do that. Jesuit played catch against us.

😳 FHSAA 4A Region 3 baseball shocker: Osceola beats Jesuit 2-1 in Game 1. Jesuit had 3 runners thrown out on the bases, including key one in 7th. Game 2 (and 3 if nec) Saturday at Jesuit. @Biggamebobby

Not just prospect coverage. Allan is the reason the MLB Draft became the live spectacle it is today. It was amazing and inspiring watching him work the phones to piece together draft picks in real time when the entire thing was supposed to be a secret. He got it all, anyway.
