The banking beat leads to many unexpected places: Execs at Fifth Third and Comerica (which merged last year) have had some friendly clashes over how to make chili. Cincinnati, where FITB is based, is known for its chili on spaghetti tradition

Just one day before President Trump announced a pause on much of his Liberation Day tariff regimen, he bought over 300 individual stocks worth at least 3.6 million. He sold none. Chart from our @WSJ story today:

NEW: We found bodegas in Brooklyn selling what they advertised as retatrutide, an experimental weight-loss drug, whose commercial sale is prohibited by federal law.
CBS News@CBSNews

Retatrutide is an experimental weight-loss drug not approved by the FDA – and yet, you can buy it in a New York City bodega. CBS News has been investigating the black market for retatrutide, which along with other peptides is wildly popular. @adamyamaguchi went to a small New York City convenience store and found obtaining a vial billed as retatrutide was exceptionally easy. #peptide #investigation

This is such a weird take. Normally I’d let it slide but seeing it increasingly, so: We are not paid by Kalshi. In fact, as we disclose in our stories (if one bothers to read them), our parent company has a partnership with Polymarket. Our reporting remains independent.

1/ After seeing a lot of Polymarket videos on social media, my @WSJ colleagues and I wanted to understand Polymarket’s marketing. After watching a bunch of videos, we noticed that the website featured in them was almost, but not quite, identical to Polymarket’s actual platform.

NEW: A college student filmed the exciting moment he won $100,000 – except the bet wasn’t real. A flood of videos showing fake trades and fake wins is fueling Polymarket’s hype machine, our @WSJ investigation found. It's part of a secret campaign for Americans’ attention.

This WSJ investigation is wild 🤯 Creators on social media looked like they were printing money on Polymarket, posting massive wins and huge cashouts. Turns out a lot of it wasn't real. > Polymarket allegedly built fake versions of its platform that looked nearly identical to the real site > Young creators were reportedly paid $2,000-$3,000 per month to film scripted trades and cashouts on those fake interfaces > They were allegedly told not to disclose the payments and to reshoot content if it wasn't exciting enough > The campaign reportedly used outdated clips, altered headlines, and networks of clipping accounts to push content to millions of viewers > More than 1,100 videos were analyzed, with many showing "winning" bets that would have actually lost money Pretty crazy stuff if true. The full WSJ investigation is linked below. Definitely worth the read.
