Norman Smiley can teach more holds and pins than a brain can even process. A true master on the mat, he’s someone I first watched as a kid during the WCW Starrcade Collision Course tournament. Fast forward to 2003, wrestling him in TNA was unforgettable because let’s be real, not many can say they got big wiggled (and if you don’t know, you should know). This week, my #BuiltFromStone highlight goes out to a selfless coach and all-around great human being. Norman is the man and he deserves every bit of credit he already gets, and then some. From his FCW days to every era of NXT, he’s helped countless wrestlers grow, and his impact can’t be overstated.

From the beginning of my days at FCW/NXT I told most young talent to ask Norman to show you ever hold and submission he knew. I knew he would never take a liberty and hurt you but show you how it felt so you could react ( I don’t like the word selling) accordingly if you were ever put in these holds. I asked Norman last year how many people had taken him up on the offer. His answer upset me. He answered “One”. I won’t say who that was as he’s related to me. You can lead a horse to water…. Norman is a precious treasure to the PC.

@ZachCav both guys rule. maybe Minty could be liked more cuz he can fight, but if we had to lose one I’d lose whoever brought the best trade.

@ByronFever Smart call. And that probably helped your enjoyment. And at the end of the day, if you liked it, then it was right. Personally I felt it was just a step further than what was needed for the match to be great. I would have enjoyed it even more with a little less violence.

@justinharvey75 yeah she figured out wrestling shows with any blood at all weren't for her so she doesnt subject herself to them anymore. I brought more friends who like violence this time.

@ByronFever Weren’t you the person who brought a guest to Revolution last year that couldn’t even stomach it enough to watch the whole show? This wasn’t as bad. But still maybe a half step too far with the syringe. They could have pulled back just a little bit in my opinion and still great

@ByronFever I mean, I definitely did complain when I was in Palm Springs in the summer last time. Also the match was just a touch too violent. But I liked this one more than Swerve vs Hangman.
