I’ve seen this doing the rounds and a lot of chat about how we need “football people” on the Board, and tbh it’s a misleading/a bit of a red herring. It’s normal for the Board of Directors to be businesspeople - neither Arsenal nor Man City have a single “football person” on their Board. The point for us is that both of those clubs have hired better below that and delegated full footballing autonomy and control to their respective Sporting Directors, Andrea Berta and Hugo Viana (neither of whom sit on the “Board”). Having a football person on the Board is not the issue, what we need is the Board to delegate, back financially and give the keys to a competent Sporting Director (who is not named Johan Lange).
