Billy Bat - Naoki Urasawa 4th Dimensional Bat travels through time influencing history from Jesus to the assasination of JFK. Its focus on modern history is really cool and I like how it weaves noteable historical figures but I think the story fizzles out at the end.

To be Hero X Chinese Kpop OPM Cool conceptually and for the most part in execution. Episodic vignettes of several heroes are used to build a larger narrative and world. Unfortunately not all stories are made equal. Also twist ending 😡

Billy Bat cameos are pretty crazy but it really got me thinking like how goooood a phoenix set in ww2 japan could be. Like imagine a Message to Adolf style story but centered around using the Phoenix power. It would go so hard.

You know, I fully understand why people want anime adaptations to be 1-to-1 panel by panel adaptations of the manga. But the fact that they are is one of the reasons why when someone asks me if I'm going to watch an anime of a manga I've read my first thought is "Why?"

@MercuryFalcon I'm pretty sure Aum Shinrikyo were an inspiration for Friend. There are a lot of parallels to the methods that the Friend Party and Aum Shinrikyo.

30 chapters into 20th Century Boys and the way Friend uses images from Ninja Hattori and Tetsujin reminds me of how Aum Shinrikyo used anime and manga characters its member grew up with in their propaganda and manifestos.
