I’m tired of seeing a lack of representation when it comes to black characters in media so I decided as a black artist to do it myself. Hi, my name is How and I'm working on a project called 'Bad Company' in hopes of creating the rep I want to see. Follow for updates!

then they bring up the texture.. like his hair wasn’t relaxed before AND after vitiligo, he changed up his style literally EVERY year until he passed, and then they bring up the wigs like he wasn’t suffering from balding later in life. and the wigs were STILL styled, just like how black ppl wear wigs.. it was common for black people to relax their hair for different styles. turn ur brains on.

These sculptures were made by Murjoni Merriweather, she is a Baltimore-based sculptor and MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) graduate with a B.A. in Ceramics and Film who creates expressive clay busts and figures celebrating Black culture, natural hairstyles, and lived experiences. Her "grow bottom" sculptures appear to emerge directly from surfaces, featuring detailed elements like intricate braids, locs, afros, gold grills, and jewellery to challenge European beauty standards and counter stereotypes. Merriweather's work has been exhibited at venues including the Walters Art Museum, Rubell Museum, and group shows on hip-hop and contemporary art. She draws from real people to give each piece it's own spirit and personality.
