Hundreds of participants at Folsom State Prison (FSP) showed their support for local #GirlScouts through a #community cookie sale, totaling $18,235 in sales. 🍪The effort was organized by the Community Resources Office and the incarcerated activity group Men of Character.

CDCR staff all over the state participated in local #PolarPlunge events, supporting @SONorCal. The events brought together athletes, supporters, and public safety partners.

On Friday, CDCR and @CAgovernor announced the completion of the 80,000-square-foot San Quentin Learning Center at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. The innovative complex nearly triples classroom space, expands rehabilitative programming, and features a one-stop reentry hub.

San Quentin, once California's most notorious prison, is now a national model for rehabilitation and second chances. And with innovative programs reducing violent crime in the Golden State, the California Model is proving that public safety and rehabilitation go hand-in-hand.

Inspired by Avenal State Prison, coach Chris Costello at the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility started a CrossFit class for the incarcerated population. One of the long-term goals is to provide the opportunity for participants at SATF to earn their CrossFit Level 1.

Two correctional officers from California Men’s Colony helped a driver after her truck burst into flames on Interstate 5. First on the scene, the officers immediately stopped to help, ensuring the driver was safe away from the vehicle and confirmed 911 had been notified.
