In February, our Vandalia Health CAMC General Surgery Residency trainees and attendings presented research at the West Virginia Trauma Symposium and the Southeastern Surgical Congress Annual Meeting. We look forward to seeing more of their presentations this spring!

2025 was a fantastic year of growth and camaraderie for our Surgery department. We celebrated our graduating residents, announced the launch of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship, enjoyed successes in skills competitions and shared plenty of fun moments along the way.

The Vandalia Health CAMC General Surgery Residency is ready to celebrate the holidays! Residents have hand-painted ornaments over the past two years to decorate the program's holiday tree, and we look forward to continuing the tradition for years to come.

Congratulations to Anna Chudnovets, MD, General Surgery Co-Administrative Chief Resident, on matching into the Advanced Thoracic Fellowship at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center! We wish Dr. Chudnovets the best as she begins this chapter in the coming academic year.

Tara Dolin, Program Coordinator for the General Surgery Residency, has earned her C-TAGME certification, a national credential recognizing excellence in GME administration. The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine Surgery department proudly congratulates her on this achievement.

This Veterans Day, our Surgery department is beyond proud to recognize Resident Colin Roozbehi, DO, for his service in the U.S. Marines.

On Friday, the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine Surgery department welcomed Selwyn O. Rogers, Jr., MD, MPH, founding director of the University of Chicago Medicine Trauma Center, as the 2025 James P. Boland, MD, Memorial Lecture guest speaker.

As the Vandalia Health CAMC General Surgery Residency's second House Staff Council representative, Erica Dobbs, DO, helps give her fellow residents a voice to share ideas, address concerns and strengthen connections with GME leadership and peers across programs.

Vandalia Health CAMC General Surgery residents strengthened their suturing skills during this week’s simulation session.

Nathaniel Anderson, MD, serves as one of our two House Staff Council representatives, actively participating in the forum where residents and fellows can share ideas, raise concerns and connect with GME leadership and peers across programs.

General Surgery residents Mark Hill, MD, and George Wilson, DO, represented Vandalia Health CAMC in the “So You Think You Can Operate?” skills competition at the 2025 American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in Chicago, IL.

A little Halloween spirit made its way into our General Surgery Residency conference this week, where we enjoyed festive charcuterie boxes!🎃

The Vandalia Health CAMC General Surgery residents put their skills to the test in a board game competition this week! The four houses, formed during last month’s House Sorting Ceremony, faced off in Perfection, Operation, Simon and Bop It.
