This proves how far back there was an alliance between Cypriots and Jews/Israel. Salamis had a large, thriving Jewish population at the time. There were Jews living in Cyprus from at least the 4th century BCE.
My ancestry (including Jewish) is from this region so it's fascinating to me that the Jewish element may go back as far as this time.
Cyprus has always been a melting-pot of cultures, mainly through conquest, but also through (economic) settlement.
Many Sephardic Jews also settled in this area, following their expulsion from Spain in 1492.

Tonight I gave a magen david/star of David to my Godson
He is English born but grew up mainly in 🇮🇱 as his Dad is Israeli. He was over the moon as he’d lost the one he normally wears.
His English Aunt then told me that she used to wear hers all the time but no longer does. I asked her:
“Do you no longer wear it as you’re scared what may happen?”
She replied: “ No I stopped wearing it when I became ashamed of 🇮🇱’s actions”
After 20 minutes of discussion, re Oct 7th and where many truths were pointed out to her by all around the table, it was best to just stuff my face with the bbq food and shut up.
Still fuming…..

I wish I knew what to say. My close family is all gone. They were all pro-Israel. My brother was a fervent revisionist Zionist. He passed away in 2018, so he didn't see the horrors of October 8. It seems that a few people at our synagogue are not pro-Israel, or as pro-Israel as the rest of us, but we can avoid them.

Two years ago today, Hezbollah murdered 12 #Druze children from the Israeli town of Majdal Shams. In addition, many other children were severely wounded, both physically & emotionally. Some of the children were playing football/soccer. Some of the girls had just left basketball practice to watch their friends/family play. Children, murdered on a soccer field.
All of us at @ProjectMaxClub remain committed to honoring the children and doing our part to make sure the world never forgets.
May the memories of the children of Majdal Shams forever be a blessing.
