Dr. Kuat Akizhanov, Deputy Director Two of the CAREC Institute, took part in the 83rd Annual Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA) Conference, which was held in a hybrid format in Chicago. As one of the largest and most prestigious gatherings in the field of political science, the conference brought together more than 4,000 scholars, researchers, and policymakers from over 65 countries, covering a wide range of disciplines and research interests.

The CAREC Institute (CI) actively participated in the III International Scientific-Practical Conference “Modern Trends of the Development of Financial Markets,” held online on April 24, 2026. Organized by the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management (TSIEM), the conference brought together over 70 researchers, policymakers and financial experts from Central Asia and other regions, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

From 3 to 4 May 2026, a delegation from the CAREC Institute, comprising Director Charymuhammet Shallyyev and Deputy Director One Dr. Li Kouqing, participated in the 59th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Dr. Kuat Akizhanov, Deputy Director Two of the CAREC Institute, attended the 8th Central Asia Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2026) in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 22 to 24 April. The conference, themed “Climate Leadership in Central Asia: a partnership between Government and Business”, brought together representatives of government authorities, international organizations, financial institutions, business, the scientific community, and civil society.

The #CARECInstitute, in collaboration with the @Shanghai National Accounting Institute and the @ADB_HQ , will host the workshop titled Navigating Overseas Markets: Business Opportunities in Central Asia – Uzbekistan in Shanghai, the People’s Republic of China, from 25 to 27 May 2026. This is the first event of the “Navigating Overseas Markets: Business Opportunities in Central Asia” Workshop Series. It focuses on Uzbekistan and explores local market conditions as well as ways to advance closer economic cooperation between China and Central Asia.

On 9 April, the CAREC Institute and the @ADBInstitute successfully hosted an online Chai Talk event focused on leveraging effective Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms to unlock greater cross-border trade and investment potential in the CAREC region. The event brought together regional and international experts to discuss key strategies for strengthening dispute resolution frameworks in the region.
