Thank you to the office of @yassaminansari Ansari for awarding $830,000 to support the work of CASS. This funding will help us continue providing shelter and resources for individuals, families, and aging adults experiencing homelessness while strengthening our community.

We had a productive Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging (GACA) meeting last month! @GovernorHobbs welcomed members and recognized their dedication to improving the lives of older #Arizonans. Members also heard from @CASS_AZ and @ASUCHPDP about their collaborative work supporting older adults experiencing chronic homelessness. They received updates on @AZHousing's Arizona Homeless Collective Impact Project, a multi-agency initiative aiming to reduce homelessness by 30% by 2030. @heidi_hommel CASS, or Central Arizona Shelter Services, will benefit massively from the funds, according to @cass_az CEO Nathan Smith. "We're going to use the funds we received ... to improve longstanding plumbing issues ... beautify the space, replenish old beds," he says.

I'm proud to have secured more than $800,000 in federal funding for @CASS_AZ, which plays a crucial role in combating homelessness in the Phoenix metropolitan area. CASS has helped many in our community get back on their feet. This funding will help them continue to provide shelter and services to those in-need.

This week, I met with Nathan Smith, CEO of @CASS_AZ. I’ve worked with the team at CASS for many years and recently successfully advocated for federal funding needed to renovate their Vista Colina Family Shelter. Vista Colina is a safe, supportive shelter for families experiencing homelessness.

ADOH Director Joan Serviss was proud to also participate in this tour and celebration of THE HAVEN; Arizona’s first transitional shelter exclusively for seniors!

TODAY: Three years after it was first announced, @CASS_AZ is opening "The Haven." It's a shelter for seniors experiencing homelessness, with 130 units designed for single or double occupancy. Will hold about 170. You may know the building as the old "Phoenix Inn." @KTAR923.
