I paid a working visit to Buipe in the Savannah Region to engage directly with members of the fishing community and assess the pressing challenges affecting the sector. The visit, undertaken alongside the Member of Parliament for Central Gonja and Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Honourable John Abu Jinapor, forms part of government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration and improving the livelihoods of fisherfolk across the country. During our engagement, fisherfolk and stakeholders highlighted several key concerns, including the timely supply and effective distribution of premix fuel, access to essential fishing inputs to improve productivity, the provision of modern fish processing equipment for women in the sector, and the need for improved landing sites to enhance fish handling, storage, and operational efficiency. We also discussed the importance of strengthening infrastructure within the fisheries value chain to support local economic growth and improve working conditions for fishing communities. I reaffirmed government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of fisherfolk through sustainable policies and targeted interventions that will enhance productivity, promote responsible fisheries management, and improve livelihoods. Honourable John Abu Jinapor also assured the community of continued collaboration between the relevant ministries to support the growth and development of the fisheries sector in the Savannah Region. This visit forms part of our broader stakeholder engagement initiative aimed at ensuring inclusive development within Ghana’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.

I had the honour of joining the Vice President, Her Excellency Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, alongside the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon.Emelia Arthur, and the Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Hon. Dzifa Abla Gomashie, to inaugurate Ghana’s first-ever Marine Protected Area: the Cape Three Points Marine Protected Area. Spanning a critical 700 square kilometres of our territorial waters, this landmark intervention represents a decisive and science-driven response to the converging crises of overfishing, pollution, and climate change. Building on the established momentum of the West Africa Coastal Areas (WACA) Programme which has already fortified resilience for 27,000 households, this MPA is explicitly designed to secure sustainable livelihoods and to empower coastal communities as the primary custodians of their own marine heritage.

The blood still speaks! The blood of Jesus is still current as it was 2000 years ago. For it is our ticket to obtain mercy for sins of the past, present and the future. Whenever we err or stumble in any way, we’re able to approach the throne of Grace because the blood intercedes for us. I invite you to join me as I break down 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 in the full sermon from April 5, 2026, click here: youtu.be/a6dOPP2Ycns?si… #ArchbishopNick
