Players Era Festival Showdown
#14 St. John's (4-2) Vs #21 Auburn (5-2)
St John's: This team comes hot off a 15-point win against Baylor and a close loss to a good Iowa State team. They were red hot in the game against Baylor shooting 50% from 3. Bryce Hopkins had a tremendous game scoring 26 and 3-3 from downtown. Senior Oziyah Sellers had himself a day as well with 22 points on 6-11 shooting and hitting 5 from deep. This was without their best player Ejiofor who only had 9 points. If he can brush that game off and come strong in this game, Auburn is in for a long night
Auburn: The Tigers just got blasted by Michigan yesterday. It's not that they played terrible, but they were just outplayed in every aspect of the game. But don't worry, Keyshawn Hall will continue doing great things, and so will Tahaad Pettiford. Despite this, they need some other guys to step up big time if they want to beat this St. John's team.
Prediction: St. John's wins and covers 87-76
USC basketball has arrived as the Trojans capture their first ever Maui Invitational championship with a win over Arizona State (88-75). Chad Baker-Mazara was the star, scoring 23 points and adding 4 assists to power the Trojans’ offense.

Players Era 3rd Place Game
Kansas (5-2) vs. #17 Tennessee (7-0)
Preview: Two teams who have proven themselves in the Players Era look to grab another signature win in this loaded tournament.
Kansas: The Jayhawks have been able to do enough in the absence of star freshman Darryn Peterson who has been sidelined for the entire Players Era tourney. Flory Bidunga and Tre White have picked up their production in Peterson's absence and so far, those two have averaged a combined 30.5 points and 15 rebounds. This is by far the biggest test for the Jayhawks in this tourney and they will need senior transfer from St. Bonaventure Melvin Council Jr. to step into a bigger role to keep up with the intensity of this Rick Barnes-led Volunteer squad.
Tennessee: The Volunteers are a two-man show this season as senior transfer Ja'Kobi Gillespie and freshman phenom Nate Ament have lived up to the hype. Gillespie averages 19.6 points and 5.4 assists, while Ament adds 17.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Tennessee was also able to keep around veteran center Felix Okpara who is a great defender and has made strides on the offensive side of the ball as he is averaging 9 points and 6 rebounds.
Keys: The key to this one is how the Jayhawks' offense will look in this one as KenPom ranks them #60 in offensive rating while Tennessee sits in the top 10 in defensive rating. Kansas will need a lot from their secondary scoring options to keep up tonight. Expect the veteran presence of Ja'Kobi Gillespie to pick apart this Jayhawks' offense in this third-place game.
Prediction: 76-65 Tennessee (wins and covers)
Players Era Championship
#12 Gonzaga (7-0) vs. #7 Michigan (6-0)
Preview: We get a matchup of two teams who have dominated this year's Players Era tournament facing off in the championship, where both teams will heavily rely on their frontcourts to dominate.
Gonzaga: Graham Ike and Braden Huff have been the story all tournament long as the frontcourt has dominated in Vegas. This combo is averaging 33 points and 14.1 rebounds through their first 7 games. With these two and the senior transfer Tyon Grant-Foster finally breaking onto the scene for the Zags behind a 21-point game against Alabama, it seems Gonzaga is here to stay this year after an off year for Few and company last year. The depth will tell the story in this game as Adam Miller and Mario Saint-Supery will need to play good minutes as the 4th and 5th scorers for Gonzaga to match this highly talented Michigan squad.
Michigan: The talk of the offseason was the NIL spending that went down in Ann Arbor this offseason. So far this has paid off immensely as Yaxel Lendeborg, Morez Johnson Jr., and Aday Mara have taken the college basketball world by storm. This has been the most dominant frontcourt in all of college basketball and is a massive reason why the Wolverines are undefeated. The guard play has also been good enough as junior transfer Elliot Cadeau and freshman 5-star Trey McKenney have done enough to take some pressure off that frontcourt.
Keys: Both teams know what they are going to get from their top 3 players, but the big question is which role player can step up and give his team enough to win this game. I think this game falls into the hands of Elliot Cadeau as he has played in big games throughout his career. He will need to be near perfect to beat this Gonzaga team. I see the Zags' frontcourt getting the best of Michigan's bigs and I expect Tyon Grant-Foster to take this game over with his length and ability to spread the floor.
Prediction: 78-74 Gonzaga wins and covers

Players Era Festival
#14 St John’s (3-2) Vs. Baylor (4-0)
Preview: Undefeated Baylor looks to hand St. John’s their 3rd loss of the season in the Players Era Festival!
St John’s: The Johnnies are known for pushing the pace and scoring averaging 95.2 points per game so far. They just came off a tough 83-82 loss to Iowa State Cyclones yesterday. St. John's has a lot of momentum and a roster loaded with transfer and returning talent, so this is a big opportunity for them to make a statement. Look for Zuby to be aggressive and set the tone like he did against Alabama.
Baylor: Baylor’s been solid to start as they are undefeated so far, and they hope to build on that with a quality non-conference win. They will face a tough test today in terms of matching St. John’s pace and energy. This is a chance for them to prove they can handle elite opposition on a big stage. Cameron Carr has been brilliant through 4 games, averaging 23 points and 5 rebounds. He needs to do more of the same for Baylor to compete.
Takeaways: Both teams are very well coached, but I have a hard time believing St John’s will lose 2 days in a row. Look for Pitino to fire up his guys today.
Prediction: 87-78 St John’s Wins and covers
