Paul Farmer passed away on this day in 2022. In addition to the incredible work that he did as a writer, clinic builder, and @PIH visionary, Paul should be remembered as a great friend and mentor to students. Here he is joyfully fielding questions from a Carrboro High class.

@mattcone2 I’ve been thinking recently about all the amazing opportunities twitter has brought me—especially in global health.

If Twitter crumbles, I just want to say that the last few years have been incredible ones in schools and that students, teachers, parents, and everyone else has stepped up in remarkable ways. We have not always been at our best but we have worked hard & found ways to keep going.

As part of the #PeaceDayChallenge, I want to recognize @JoiaMukherjee. Joia and her @pih colleagues work tirelessly to create a world in which healthcare is a human right. Thanks for fighting the good fight and for being such a great friend to the @CHSJaguars students, Joia!

Your work exposing racism in our education system changed the way I thought about my own school and community and systemic racism in America more broadly.
