Every species uses a different number sequence. Sheep tags will use a number between 310-319 OR 500-549 and Beef Cattle tags will use a number between 100-299 on the tag (indicator). You wouldn't want to tag sheep with a beef cattle tag as the data would be inaccurate.

Retention matters! This video shows an example of an approved CCIA tag that is in the wrong location and also in the wrong orientation. Improper tag application can lead to lost tags and inaccurate records which could affect an emergency response during a disease outbreak.
