@sijwali_puran's lab has discovered a protein called VMP1, and showed that it is essential for the formation and function of the secretory organelles. It is necessary for lipid mobilization across membranes, which is a key requirement for membrane function and communication. 2/3

Malaria pathogen P falciparum & closely related T gondii contain secretory organelles. These are crucial for parasite migration, host cell invasion+exit, & disease development. These make secretory organelles a promising way to control the parasites' spread in our bodies. 1/3

Many congratulations to Vivek Chaudhary and Kainat for the best poster awards at the 45th Annual Meeting of Indian Association for Cancer Research & International conference on Advancements In Cancer Research, Discoveries, Therapeutics & Challenges held at University of Kashmir.

They found that the risk of cyanobacterial blooms is heightened under low nitrogen-to-phosphorus conditions, with toxin-producing genera becoming more prevalent. They also identified new possible ways that cyanobacteria fix carbon. Details here: doi.org/10.1016/j.enva… 3/3

They monitored cyanobacteria growing in Chilika Lagoon across multiple seasons. They checked for the cyanobacteria genomes in the water through environmental DNA samples. They found that salinity predominantly shapes the cyanobacterial community. 2/3
