How do you build an explosive passing game without overloading your quarterback? The Passing Lab host @joshherring1 sits down with Bethel University OC @ColinDuling to talk RPO philosophy, the "zero read," option routes, and building a system that keeps defenses on their heels. New episode out now. Links in reply to listen.

The amount of football intel in these series is unrelentingly impressive.

This is where analytics becomes coaching. Not a report you look at after the game. Information your staff can actually use while the next call, next adjustment, or next series is still in front of you.
Modern Football Technology@modernFB

Every staff has game goals. Negative plays. Takeaways. Explosives. 10+ play drives. Third-down stops. But there’s a difference between putting them on a board and tracking them while the game is still being played. @CoachIrsik1 talks about the value of knowing those numbers in real time, because they can inform the next call. That’s where the information becomes useful. Not after the game. During it.

Your game-day analytics person doesn’t have to be another coach on staff. For Kegan Wirtz, it was his wife, Madelyn. She didn’t come in with a football background. She learned the workflow, ran @modernFB on the sideline, and became part of how they communicated and made decisions during the game. That should make every coach think. Is there a spouse, student, manager, or trusted person around your program who could help your staff get better information on game night? The system has to be simple enough to use, but valuable enough to impact decisions. That’s the sweet spot.

What a fun night talking ball with some certified DUDES. Here’s a preview in podcast form of what clinic members get. The full round table is good bit longer and includes visuals. Tonight we get to run it back with a workshop where we detail the passing game.

Teaching the passing game is about more than drawing routes. In this new episode, @joshherring1, @Drew_Ambrose_, @CoachDeWeese, @CoachBradyWalz, and @CoachHerbertDa1 discuss how they teach concepts, progressions, and quarterback play so offenses execute faster on Friday nights. Steven Saulnier – OL, West Florida Clog technique. Clog your whole backside through. Stay square. Turn the defender’s shoulders to the sideline. If his shoulders turn, you win. Foot fire. Strain through the block. Quick feet. Strong base. Torque and finish. Own the leverage.

This is one of the biggest things I’m thinking through as I get back on the sideline this fall. We all chart the game. Down and distance. Field position. Fronts. Pressures. Coverage. Results. But after a series, I don’t have five minutes to sort through it. I have to talk to the QB, check in with the OL, process what the defense is doing, and get ready for the next call. That’s why I’m using @modernFB this season. It takes the information we’re already tracking and makes it usable fast enough to help us on the next series. On game night, that matters.

Should your passing game be built on half-field reads or full-field progressions? @CoachDeWeese says the best offenses blend both. New Passing Lab preview on scan tags, quarterback processing, and building answers that adapt after the snap. The Passing Lab begins July 8.

Don’t wait until Friday night to call the game. @CoachIrsik1 explains how Folsom builds the call sheet during the week, rehearses situations in practice, and uses @modernFB to keep the staff organized with tagged film, opponent data, and real-time game-day analytics. The best calls aren’t made under pressure. They’re prepared long before kickoff.
