We had an inspiring afternoon yesterday at the Carver Center for the 2026 CCPS Teacher of the Year Meet and Greet! It was a privilege to hear from our nominees and celebrate their commitment to our students and community. The final winner will be announced on April 21.

On Wednesday, March 18, Elkton Middle School will conduct an ALICE drill in partnership with law enforcement. The campus will be closed from 9:45-10:45 AM.

On Tuesday, March 17, Gilpin Manor Elementary School will conduct an ALICE drill in partnership with law enforcement. The campus will be closed from 9:15-10:15 AM.

On Thursday, March 12, Cherry Hill Middle School will conduct an ALICE drill in partnership with law enforcement. The campus will be closed from 8:15-9:15 AM.

The inaugural CCPS Elementary Basketball Play Day was a slam dunk! It wasn’t just about the score—it was about the smiles, school spirit, and fun. A huge thanks to the coaches, staff, and families who supported our stars. Our students had an absolute blast on the court!

There’s nothing like the magic of a great book! This week, we celebrated Read Across America with guest readers from across the community. Our students loved hearing new stories from our visitors. Thank you to everyone who helped turn our halls into a celebration of learning!

Congratulations to the 25 young authors honored by the CCLC on 3/2! From 17 schools to a speech by Kami Garcia, Cecil County talent is shining. Also, congratulations to Sherry Eichinger-Wilson on her 2026 Literacy Luminary Award, and good luck to our 3 state finalists in Towson!

We are preparing for potential winter weather. Students are coming home with devices/packets today in case of a virtual day next week. If school closes, we will transition to virtual instruction. We hope to see everyone Monday! Thanks for your support.

Yesterday, our educators kicked off their first day at the Maryland School Leadership Academy in Towson. This elite program empowers leaders with equity-focused, innovative strategies to bring back to our classrooms. We’re so proud of their commitment to excellence!

This morning, CCPS held its second statewide tabletop safety exercise of the year with the Maryland Center for School Safety. Alongside emergency responders, we tested coordination & response plans to ensure a safe environment for all. A true commitment to school safety!
