#OTD 14 years ago, Chicago Cubs right-hander @Dempster46 (Gibsons, B.C.) tossed six scoreless innings in the Cubs’ 4-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Wrigley Field. With his performance, Dempster had thrown 33 consecutive scoreless innings which tied a Cubs’ record.

#OTD Three years ago, Bo and Josh Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.) became the first two Canadian brothers to homer for the same team in the same inning of an MLB game when they did so in the third inning for the Guardians in their 12-4 loss to the Rangers at Globe Life Field.

#OTD 27 years ago, Texas Rangers reliever Jeff Zimmerman (Kelowna, B.C.) became the first 🇨🇦 rookie to PITCH in the MLB All-Star Game. He tossed a scoreless seventh inning for the American League in their 4-1 win over the National League at Fenway Park.

#OTD 44 years ago, the MLB All-Star Game was played at Olympic Stadium in Montreal. This marked the first time the All-Star Game had been played outside of the U.S. Five Expos players - Carter, Dawson, Oliver, Raines and Rogers - were selected to the NL squad. The NL won 4-1.

#OTD in 1914, Babe Ruth made his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox. He pitched and allowed two earned runs in seven innings and went 0-for-2 at the plate. The first batter he faced was Jack Graney (St. Thomas, Ont.), of the Cleveland Naps, who singled. The Sox won 4-3.

Hit for the cycle one day, named an All-Star the next. Congrats, Tristan!
