EXCL @GBNEWS: Police Scotland failed to investigate a grooming gang in Glasgow. Care records reveal that officers made a 'tentative inquiry' at a care home after a girl's name appeared in an investigation. But they never spoke to her. Now she has spoken to me about her ordeal.

@MissLauraFong @MooAndDrew @GBNEWS I reported on their deaths as soon as it broke this morning. I am also not the Secretary of State for War in the US. This was the first time he has spoken since their deaths. His words really matter. Thnx

@MooAndDrew @CDP1882 @GBNEWS The first thing this clown "journalist" did was launch an assault on Hegseth rather than discuss the wounded soldiers. He would rather score points defending his media colleagues than acknowledge that people have died. Appalling.

Pete Hegseth starts his press conference with attacks on "fake news" in the American media before he eventually refers to the four US servicemen who died in a plane crash in Iraq. By contrast, Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine opens his remarks with a tribute to them.

@GBNEWS The RAF recovered the US personnel as Trump made barbed comments about Britain's support for its war in Iran. He accused the UK of being “very uncooperative”. A Whitehall source said: “We will always be there for our close allies and partners and we are happy to help.”

EXCL @GBNEWS: Several US Special Operations Forces planes departed from RAF Mildenhall yesterday. The group of seven MC-130Js flew out of the Suffolk airbase yesterday towards a destination that we are choosing not to reveal to protect operational and personal security. Four of the MC-130Js that took off from the airbase featured the Silent Knight radar modification. The radar provides terrain-following and terrain avoidance capabilities, allowing the tactical planes to conduct precise and delicate low-level flying missions. The forward deployment comes amid growing reports that Trump might need to put boots on the ground to achieve his objectives. Special forces teams could be deployed to fight alongside the Kurds, stretching Iranian resources, or to conduct operations on the Iranian coast as the US struggles to defending shipping the Strait of Hormuz. The Pentagon has 60 days to achieve objectives and neuter the regime before Trump has to seek authorisation from Congress to continue the war. As the bombing drags on, and with the new Ayatollah installed, he might need to call on special forces to hurry-up American operations. gbnews.com/news/iran-war-…

@CDP1882 Hmm. Well, operations around the Strait could be deemed defensive. Embedding SF and JTACs with Kurds to push a ground invasion would not be. I take your point. For what it's worth, your OPSEC is still better than the average Labour minister visiting Ukrainian rear echelon.

I really do respect Charlie, but not sure I would have run this story. Unless, of course, the US DoW asked me to. In which case it's a bit psy-oppy.

@Landeur I haven't shared anything that they won't know already and I have taken additional steps to protect operational/personal security. This is an important story for quizzing Britain's role in supporting the US as HMG insists airbases are only being used for "defensive" operations.

@CDP1882 Fair enough, that did sound like an accusation, but was more just speculation. Forgive me. As to public interest, yes it is. Does public interest trump giving warning to America's enemies about the deployment of SF on the ground? Particularly around a certain Strait?
