I was lucky enough to grow up around Coach Gardner and got to know him beyond his legendary status as a hockey coach. He positively impacted so many young men, regardless of if u played for him or didn't know where the ice rink was. There will never be another JTG. Love you Coach

This is outstanding advice for any young coaches. There are a lot of fun parts of coaching that everybody wants to do. But if you want to move up and get more responsibility, work really hard and be willing to do things others won't.
