Meeting the EU’s sustainability objectives requires scaling the supply of critical raw materials (CRMs) while ensuring production complies with environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards. Yet in today's market, where high-emission and low-cost CRMs appeal to many buyers' limited willingness to pay for sustainability, green CRM supply is unlikely to emerge without targeted regulations. Researchers @_erighetti, @vasileios_rizos and Deniz Tekin from @CEPS_ERCC have proposed a policy framework that makes the 'green premium' worth the extra cost and supports a secure CRM supply in the EU.
