Creating precise & comprehensive 3D "molecular maps" of human organs requires a lot of gigabytes. Congrats to C4E's Quan Zhu & Bogdan Bintu for receiving Western Digital's Petabyte Innovation Quest Award: A million+ gigs for biological discovery. bit.ly/46jYeku

It's not just genetics. Or just lifestyle. Disease & peak health are both just expressions of an incredibly complicated ongoing physiological mosaic. One must account for genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, phophoproteomics, and much more. Focusing on muscle hypertrophy, this recent (open access) paper by my long-time friend @KevinMurachPhD does a great job of breakdown what this all is and how it works. Safe to say, much is left to learn.

New research from #UCSanDiego reveals a genomic link between air pollution and lung cancer in people who’ve never smoked. 🚭 The study found that environmental exposures can cause the same DNA mutations typically seen in smokers. 💨 bit.ly/4ncOY9o #AirPolution

Friends of C4E: Please cast your vote for Quan Zhu’s eye-catching cellular map of the human developing heart in UC San Diego’s Art of Science competition. Each color in this image, which was generated with MERFISH, represents a distinct cell type. pollunit.com/polls/2025-art…
