Gusto was good under Poch but had flaws. Happy to see him moved on for the right price, feels like we have no choice but to move him on after the signing of Palestra. Next season the squad needs trimming so if Gusto does go that should mean Palestra covers both unless it means signing Lewis Hall. Priority needs to be elsewhere on the pitch now which I think they believe needs working on.

Despite the discourse I think a point is a pretty good result as long as England take care of business against Panama. Evidence suggests that is going to be a tough game as they only lost both games narrowly 1-0 and perhaps undeservedly. Only difference is now Panama have nothing on the line.

Tuchel is a knockout manager but in a league/group stage format he gets exposed as having a bland squad of players. At club level I wouldn’t say it’s his fault but at national level, he is the one who picks the squad. When teams set up for a point against Tuchel sides there is tons of evidence of Tuchel struggling and it’s down to having no technical ability. Wharton or Palmer might have no use in the knockouts when England become that defensive team against better technical sides but when teams look to frustrate for a point he has very little answers.
